In Mega Man.... I worked hard to beat every boss to get those weapons and upgrades. None of it carried over to the sequel.
Why would it? It's a new game.
God of war
Borderlands
Uncharted
In fact.... I cannot think of any game/s that did sequels that ported over your states, skills, and gear....because that's just plain stupid lol
Destiny, perhaps more than any game in history, needs a fresh start.
Not letting you bring gear/states into a new expansion like bunjivision did is retarded, but a new game should be just that....NEW

Witcher games ;p

Yep, wiped out the entire taken King content and bring it back to Y1. Ttk was the dumbest thing Bungie has done so far.

Mass effect 2 to 3 it made equivalent of your mass effect 2 stats in mass effect 3 so at the of mass effect 2 and all it dlcs I was at level 41 with every skill maxed every skill was there plus new ones

In those games were actually better off porting your game data from the previous game.

World of Warcraft

You are right it's not stupid they should do that

Edited by queenmeeny77: 9/4/2016 12:08:39 PMWoW has never had a sequel, only expansions. Warcraft the game did not carry over progression from sequel to sequel. I think they should carry over for Destiny 2, only because the game is supposed to be a revolutionary 10-year experience. That being said I'm an alt-aholic and I love re-experiencing the story from the ground up so I'd likely build new characters for D2 anyway.

See? I never played that game. Destiny is my first MMO style game. I've played ESO and love FF14, but those came after Destiny. I'm sure there's a way to make it work. Let us bring everything over, give us more classes, subclasses, skill trees, and new gear with new perks, and it would be just so perfect. Sure, that could happen, and I want that to happen just like you. But c'ome on... lol. What are the odds that they do it - and do it well? I don't trust it. Let's take D1 outback. .... put it out of it's mysery....forget it ever happened. ...and start over with a brand new puppy.

All the games you just mentioned are primarily single player games that are heavily story driven
-
....yeah? And?
-
Destiny is an "MMO" it's no where near a single player game, it has multi-player with coop and vs mode weapons that vary from person to person hell it even has weekly resets. It's not in the same country as the games you listed, you're comparing fish and deers, and thats just stupid

What does that have ANYTHING to do with whether gear/character/states should carry over? That's what I'm not understanding. What I really should say, too, is that I'd looooove for everything to carry over and be relevant FOREVER. Bring back that Fatebringer and the VoG armor set for my Titan! But.... time and again, bunjivision shows that they don't give a shit about that! They're still trying to tell us what WE want instead of listening. Because of that. .. my faith for everything D1 is shot. D1 was a straight up beautiful mistake, and I'd rather just forget it and move on. Let bunjivision try again but not -blam!- up this time.
-
Stuff doesn't have to be relevant but wiping everything people have is a really really really bad look whenever games like WoW reset they always bring over your character. Your gear may not be relevant but they always have the character you began with.
-
Ok. Hell ya. I thought that goes without saying for D2. Same characters we made and played in D1, same universe and all that. I just want to reset the current metas, weapons and armor, light level system, economy, end-game modes and activities.
