This isn't tongue-in-cheek, this isn't sarcastic, and this isn't even meant as a "haha you're stuck in the past" barb at the PS3 and 360 players.
I'm just legit amazed that you guys haven't gotten together and said, "This is not what we were promised when we invested $60 - $100+ in buying this game and the updates that it turned out. We're not going to settle for this treatment and this kind of exclusionary behavior, just because we're less financially-capable of buying a next-gen console."
Don't get me wrong, I 100% understand the hardware limitations that come with the older consoles, and I 100% understand that Destiny has just about reached that limitation on both machines. But it goes way beyond that, with all of the extra-steps they've been taking to proverbially cut the balls off of the last-gen players.
They could've honestly just left it at, "You won't be getting the next big expansion, because it just can't support what we're trying to do with it." But Bungie has seen fit to not only cross the line, but barrel across it and then piss all over it once they're on the other side.
> "You won't be getting exotics from Xur anymore."
> "You won't be playing Trials of Osiris anymore; you won't be getting Trials-Gear anymore."
> "You won't be playing Iron Banner anymore; you won't be getting Iron Banner-Gear anymore."
> "You won't be enjoying the live-events like Festival of the Lost anymore."
> "You won't be getting anymore updates to gear, and so you won't be getting higher light-levels anymore."
And that's just a few things to list off. Bungie has basically told you guys, "The game's over until you decide to upgrade. Now go piss up a rope." All of this is why I'm amazed that these two communities haven't gotten together and said, "No. -blam!- that shit. Class-Action Lawsuit."
Don't get me wrong; I'm on my Next-Gen console, personally. I'm 100% ready for the update and waiting eagerly for September. But as someone who's spent most of my life being stuck in "Last-Gen" situations, as far back as the PS2 era (I didn't get a PS2 of my own until almost 2005), I feel bad for you guys.
To me, this just seems like you're getting a bad cut, no matter how you slice it.

Sorry, but everyone agreed to the EULA and ToS. Bungie has lawyers. I'm sure their lawyers helped them come up with both of those documents. Bungie can pretty much do what they want with the game. They can decide to completely take the servers down, and then, nobody will be playing. I do understand why old gen fans are upset (to an extent). At the same time, D2 was supposed to come out in Sept. They were going to have to switch anyway. I believe the only reason that we are getting RoI is because they pushed the release date on D2. It would explain the 6 month or so timeframe from the announcement of RoI until the release of RoI.

Frivolous. Dismissed with prejudice.
-
Why would anyone waste their time with this frivolous lawsuit. Buying a new console with the game is just a fraction of what you'll need to hire a lawyer. Good luck to anyone trying to pursue a case though.
-
If Destiny stuck with last gen for the entirety of its planned lifetime, it would fall far behind what it could become. I'm a last gen pleb and I support their movement
-
There is no case here.
-
Meh who cares tbh im fine with it if anything
-
Go ahead. Call a lawyer. See how it goes.
-
They reserve the right to shut down ANY aspect of the game as they please, you said YES at the ToS screen
-
You clearly understand neither the law nor the license agreement.
-
Bad bait.
-
EULA.
-
Nothing in the history of Destiny says that Bungie is obligated to supply us with activities or DLC. We bought Destiny, we buy the DLC, they choose to give us events. By all rights they could have just given us Destiny by itself and said Screw You Guys. This new DLC is a dick move but it's their choice to do so.
-
Ohoho that would be fun. Seeing it burn after it backfired and exploded in their faces.
-
Haha.

Edited by TwoTim213: 7/30/2016 8:17:33 PMYou wrote a lot. You should read more. Try the ToS and EULA. EDIT:
CHANGES TO THE AGREEMENT: Bungie reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add to, supplement or delete any of the terms and conditions of this Agreement when Bungie upgrades or patches the Program. /quote]

You should read the ToS before you come to the forums and make yourself look stupid.
-
You can't litigate a game into continued existence.
-
You wrote all this and can't even read their tos? Things are subject to change at anytime
-
this is why you don't get your law degree online kids
-
Why would we? I'm sure something like this is in the Term and Services we all blindly agreed to.
-
Because all that stuff keeps up with current content, and needs servers to run it. It simply isn't cost efficient. They aren't going to keep Iron banner or trials for Destiny once Destiny 2 releases either. Hell, I doubt the Destiny servers will stay active longer than 6 months past Destiny 2.
-
They should have waited for destiny 2 to pull this stunt but you know. Gotta take that wallet because there are those who will freely give it.
-
They don't sue, because they can't sue.
-
Here is a lesson I learned a long time ago. If you buy a game. You pay for the rights to play it. You do not own the game, Bungie owns it. So even if they decided to do a law suit it would not even be able to gain steam for that very reason. That and they have to right to change it however they want. If they want to drop last gen, they can because it is in the tos that you agreed to.

I was going to be one of the absolute last to upgrade. I swore I wouldn't buy a Xbone until Microsoft stopped supporting Xbox live for 360. My XBone will be here Monday. It's just time. It's been 3 years. 360 stayed relevant alot longer than I thought it would.

Wow, a lawyer giving free legal advice?
