I think you are confusing elemental damage with Damage-over-Time, which is completely different.

Don't they both come hand and hand? Any Elemental will have a lingering damage effect.

In a way, when damage over time comes in it burns a certain element. Besides term, but having an element doesn't mean they will burn, you must have a perk that specifically says that.

Edited by Jawiha: 7/27/2016 12:21:22 PMI don't think so. Have you ever got a burn (DoT) from an elemental shotgun before, for example? No? That's what I'm talking about. I think an elemental gun won't be able to inflict DoT unless it has a perk that allows it to do so.

Elemental damage boosts damage in 2 situations: - versus an elemental shield - when the appropriate elemental burn is active. In PvP there is never an elemental burn The only elemental shields in PvP are sword blocks, and they are super rare to come up against anyway. So in terms of PvP there is really no reason why elemental primaries should be out of the game. The reasons they were dropped were purely PvE related as players were using a wide range of weapons in PvP and then only using weapons with elemental damage in PvE. It was a no brainer really. The only reason that Zhalo hasn't become the go to PvE weapon is that it doesn't suit the mid range meta well. Giving Warlocks only a god tier weapon and then adding elemental damage to it would mean that no one would want to play another class. Perhaps if Ace of Spades was Arc and Fabian Strategy was Solar and Tlaloc was always Void, that might be fair... Might even get Fabian Strategy into more common use!
