The Flaming Knight of Heaven
Theresa's prelude for the not-upcoming quest.
Theresa's first day at the dojo had been an eventful one. She had met many people, and then fought a tough fight against Yuria.
As she polishes and sharpens Rose of Flames by the fireplace in her room, she hears a soft knocking at her door. She goes to open it, and standing there is a tall knight, about 6'7". He wears a helmet, obscuring his face, although Theresa seems to recognize him.
"What do you want, Knight Ephiateus?"
"You seem to not acknowledge the fact that you fled the Knights of Heaven, Knight Theresa."
"I know well enough of my own actions, but that does not answer what you are doing here."
"I thought it would be obvious. I'm here to bring you back."
"You are in no place to-"
Suddenly, a crashing noise can be heard. Two knights equally as tall as Ephiateus jump in through the windows, drawing their swords.
"We knew you wouldn't come willingly, Knight Theresa. Rose of Flames or not, you cannot take on three of us."
All the commotion attracts you.
Open. Your options are
>Aid Theresa
>Aid the Knights
Ephiateus lands on the ground with an 'oof'. He stands back up, in a defensive position. Meanwhile, Theresa knocks the two knights out of the window, and turns towards the Knightslayer. She speaks in a strange voice Rose of Flames, strengthen thy strength, to aid in the destruction of Evil. A small flame trails towards the Knightslayer, and when it touches him, he feels a massive increase in strength.
-
The Knightslayer forms a lighting spear in his hand and launches it toward his foe. He charges toward Ephiateus with his katana.
-
Ephiateus ducks just in time to avoid the spear, but the Knightslayer's katana strike him with more force than the Knightslayer expected. Ephiateus goes flying back, hitting the wall with a massive 'crack'. He falls to the ground, spine broken, Excalibur by his side.
Well, it wasn't over yet, but fin, I guess....
Out from the floor comes a banging accompanied by a yell. Shut th' el' up up there! Ah' am tryin' teh sleep! When the commotion doesn't stop, a loud crash resounds from beneath them as the wood starts to crack under on of the knight's feet. With a loud bang, a massive hand burst from the floor, knocking the knight backwards. Balthazar crawls out of the now giant-sized hole. He doesn't have his normal armor on, but his massive hammer is in one of his hands. Which of ye' damned sea-tunts 'as been makin' noise?
-
"Who the hell are you?" Ephiateus yells, turning.
-
AHM A GRUMPY OLD MAN WHO WANTS TEH SLEEP! He sweeps his hammer towards the nearest knight, its head smashing through the decorations and furnishings as it gets closer, spraying the room with wooden shrapnel.
-
Ephiateus lifts his sword, which glows golden, radiating power. He blocks the hammer, and knocks it back towards Blathazar. "Careful, old man! The sword he uses-it's Excalibur!"
-
The hammer ricochets off of the hammer, smashing through the roof. A massive gash pours wood downwards onto everybody in the room, light shining through the now eight foot wide hole in the ceiling. Balthazar steadies his hammer, backing up a bit back towards the hole. Well, looks like I should get me armor! Molten metal bursts from the hole, wrapping around Balthazar's body. His massive body is now covered in a glistening set of armor, it's helmet shaped like that of a roaring bear. His chest plate bares the mark of the Abyss Watchers, it proudly displayed to all. Embers now float from his joints as flames course through his armor, the wood around him starting to burn. Tell me knight, have you ever fought an angry giant?
Just a warning, Balthazar's -blam!-ing huge. If you haven't read his Bio, he's twelve feet tall and his hammer is about 10 feet in length.
-
Ephiateus looks up, as the knights behind him attack Theresa. She is only barely able to fend them off. "I've fought my fair share of giants." He says, raising Excalibur.
-
How about a giant Abyss Watcher? He slams his hammer down, its head bursting through the floor with ease. Flames burst out of the ground, speeding towards the two knights attacking Theresa. It bursts through the floor in front off them, creating a burning wall of blue flame. I don't take kindly teh people who use numbers instead of strength. He raises his hammer out of the ground as it starts to heat up. The metal molds and contours around Balthazar, forming a sword and shield that are covered with runes filled with flame. He raises his shield up, banging his sword against it as if saying "come at me"
-
Theresa stops for a moment, and begins speaking in a strange, unnatural voice. Rose of Flames, strengthen thy strength, to destroy the evil. Her arms glow with bright, ruby-colored flames, and she slams her sword into the knights, and they go crashing out the window. Meanwhile, Ephiateus turns toward Balthazar, Excalibur raised. "I have more than numbers, old man." He dashes forward, and Excalibur slams into him, creating an explosion of holy light.
-
The hit ricochets off of Balthazar's shield, knocking him back slightly. As he recoils from the hit, he swings his sword with lighting fast speed towards the chest of his opponent.
-
Ephiateus goes flying back, and he grunts. He charges forward again, showing remarkably substandard swordsmanship for a sword of that caliber.
-
Balthazar parries the next strike, slamming his pommel into the mans wrist. You think you honor that holy sword with such poor swordsmanship!? You disappoint those who wield the power to create such weapons with your lackluster use of such!
If you want to see what Balthazar's referencing, go check out Pant's quest that I participated in. Whenever I get lucky enough and roll a 20 when powering up, Balthazar channels angelic power through his weapon, gaining the appearance of a war angel. He's based off of the paladin class in DnD, so he knows a shit-ton about holy lore.
-
Ephiateus seems enrages, and yells, "EXCALIBUR!" Excalibur begins to glow, and blasts Balthazar with a holy blast. However, it does not harm him, for some reason.
-
Balthazar walks calmly up to Ephiateus and grabs his wrist, wrenching the sword from his hand. What have you done to deserve this weapon? You can't even use it's power correctly, let alone make up for that with skill!
-
"I-It was handed down by my fathers before me!" Ephiateus looks frightened behind his helmet.
-
Balthazar hands the blade back to Ephiateus. Go. Train with this. Come back and fight me when you are of a more experienced skill, and then we shall fight. I shall not take the life of one who shows potential if it is unnecessary.
-
"He's not the rightful owner," A voice says behind Balthazar. The voice belongs to a man who seems to be around 29.
-
Balthazar turns, picking up the sword as he does. And who might ye' be, makin such a bold statement?
-
"My name is Arthur, Balthazar." He sighs, and the sword floats out of Balthazar's hand, landing in Arthur's. When it does, it seems to glow brighter, and an immense aura of pure power fills the room.
-
Upon hearing the name, Balthazar takes a knee. I have heard much about you in the tales of old. I am Balthazar Odin-son of the West, the last Abyss Watcher. It is an honor to meet you.
