If they killed just as quickly as all other weapon types, there would be no incentive to use any other weapon type. This was the mistake they made when the game released, and they had to do a patch to fix it. Look at the data, auto rifles are still the most used weapon in crucible today. You know why? Obviously, it's not because they are good, it is because all of the noobs use them as they learn how to aim. It's a crutch weapon type. A scout or a hand cannon should always kill faster because they take precision and selective shots. Same with a pulse rifle, but to a slightly lesser degree. I don't know why I waste my time because no one will accept this reality, but I guess I just have more faith in the intellectual integrity of this board than I should.

  • I don't think that's quite correct. It's more the fact that you can eliminate the impetus to have to be pin-point accurate while aiming, and can concentrate on shot placement and maintaining the shot-string. The 'skill' isn't in the shooting, but in the reading of the engagement; do it wrong and you will lose almost every fight. You have to know when you are in an actionable position, and when you are outgunned to succeed with any AR. Generally, they are just fun guns to use. I main a hand cannon 90% of the time for precise, exacting gun fights, because that's what I enjoy. But when I want to have some fun and blow off some steam, I pull out the Monte or Shadow Price and do a few matches (or an entire IB). They aren't hard to use. They are hard to succeed with. The only kills a noob will get with an AR are clean-up kills, and you can do those with a rock.

My point was that they should be difficult to get kills with because they are easy to use. Holding the spray of bullets on someone should be where the difficulty is, but it still shouldn't kill faster than someone with a HC or scout that lands consistent headshots if for no other reason than your barrage of bullets are making their guns flinch a hell of a lot more than their intermittent bullets.

  • this. ive always run precision, HC, thats why the accuracy nerf made me sad. HC supposed to be accurate mid to LR but crucibabies cried and now i sometimes have to resort to AR in crucible. i say what i said using fusion rifle for THORN bounty, i feel dirty... lol
