As long as it brings balance I'm happy
And Titan skating should never have existed, was an unintentional side affect, and should be removed.

How would you know that? Bungie designed the game, I'm sure they knew that skating was possible before releasing the game. They wanted Titans to be fast because they have to close the gap since they don't have any ranged melees. Hunters use their agility to duck and dodge to close the gap. Warlocks don't need to close the gap as much because they have the melee range but they can use they're own version of skating to do so. Unintentional side affect my ass.

My only reason for doubting this is that the use of skating functionally eliminates the effect of the agility stat. Not at all times, and not for all considerations, but it does mitigate the effects of low agility somewhat. I don't have a ton of issue with it, until I see that one guy...you know that one guy...that either uses a shotgun as a primary (or literally uses a primary shotgun) and does nothing all match but patrol spawn points, skate, shotgun, and charge. You check the match afterwards, and the only kills are SC, shotgun, and melee. I'm pretty sure that's not what the game was intended to be like, and I back that up with the changes to special ammo economy being aimed at reducing the use of secondaries in PvP (didn't work). It's a fact of Crucible life, and I'm not salty about it, but I don't see these things as being inline with the other changes and systems in the game.

Edited by Tamed: 6/28/2016 8:11:56 PMThe agility stat already barely does anything. The difference between low agility and high agility is extremely minuscule. A better option would be to rework the agility stat than to take something away from a whole entire class just because some people are really good with it and others can't handle it. Titan skating is a fundamental part of the Titan class. That would be like completely removing shadestep from the Nightstalker That's dumb.

On that, I can agree, but I'm not arguing for a nerf. Simply stating that based on other evidence, it doesn't look to be an intended ability. There are others in the game, and they are still around too, they are just less visible or less used. My question is, what can be done to rework agility in a way that isn't too much? I can see people screaming around the map, basically impossible to get crits on, and that doesn't look fun. I've pondered this concept, and I have no idea what the right direction would be for it.

Yep. Unintentional side effect. I believe you may be alone in thinking that Titans were meant to be the highest armored class and at the same time the fastest class. That is a really unintelligent way of thinking. Your ass is not a factor in this conversation. If it were, I would suggest going to a gynecologist for your herpes removal...

If it wasn't intentional then it would've been changed before now, don't you think? Stop crying about Titans and learn to adapt.

*points to tripmines*
-
Tripmines were changed because they were fulfilling too many roles.
-
The argument would then be that the jump ability of Titans could be seen as fulfilling too many roles. I personally don't have a huge problem with it, as the ability is harder to use well than most people think, but it is a tit for tat in this case.
-
Not sure what you're talking about. I don't want them to be overpowered. I just think that if you're going to remove the crutches from all of the other classes and subclasses, then striker Titans deserve to be neutered in the same way.

Edited by Tamed: 6/28/2016 7:39:13 PMThey aren't overpowered. You're just butthurt that Hunters and Sunsingers got nerfed. So once again, learn to adapt.

Look at the top players in crucible and get back to me on how many titans there are. I'll save you the trouble; out of the top players on both systems (last time I checked) there was one Titan in the top 20.

One thing has nothing to do with the other. Nerf shoulder charge Nerf Lightning grenades Nerf Titan skating
-
I feel like this is just trolling at this point but my point is that if titans were truly overpowered we would see them represented more in the top levels of play. Currently the top leaderboards are dominated by Warlocks and Hunters.

I think this is correct. I don't see titans as OP, I see them as having the most potential to be cheap. Cheap is a trick that can generally be avoided or countered once you know how it works, and it's also used to profit and punish other players mistakes. And when people get hit with cheap kills, they somehow feel like they are more dead than a bullet to the ghoolies would have made them. It's perception, and a lack of understanding, as well as a lack of willingness to admit that when you die, you did something wrong at some point that contributed to it. Look, maybe add a more upward and less forward slant to skating: it puts you in a better position to Twilight and air charge, but worse for forward mobility( we're talking 5 or 10 degrees, nothing very severe). Maybe, maybe think about reducing the lightning grenade cone or increasing the time between pulses by .25 seconds, but I don't think it needs it; it's a grenade, it should represent bad things happening to you. And SC? As much as I'm not a fan of it, it's generally fine. I hate to see someone use it as a primary weapon, but it's high risk, high reward. As a knife chucker, I have to say, if there's no reward, why take the risk? I think we need to be standing firm on no more nerfs, only tiny tweaks and balance adjustments. And only then after the community has had a chance to sandbox them in limited PVE and PVP areas. Gather new data on the new changes, collect feedback, and compare it to the old data. Then make an -informed- choice as to what to do with things. Sandbox, or no changes for me.

Like I said, that point does not validate or invalidate my point in anyway. It has literally nothing to do with my point. My point is: all three of these need to be addressed because they are crutches. I don't care who uses them as crutches, just that they are, in fact, crutches
