It's because bungie decided that they wanted exotics that look cool and do a unique thing. Rather then be a powerful upgrade. That's why nearly any strong exotic is either back in year 1 or nerfed into the ground (rip last word.) Maybe exotics would still be strong if we had unique ways to get them like a quest. Rather then making most of them RNG.

  • If I had to pick one thing I loved in TTK, it's doing the exotics quests and challenges. Not getting them as a random drop or buying them off Xûr. Imo Xûr should sell exotic shards. Not the weapons themselves. But only once you can get them all like you get the Sleeper or the NTTE, or the Black Spindle..

  • Yeah. I enjoyed how the quests were much more thought out and fun this time around. That being said I wish they did a quest for every single exotic. and exotics were powerful things rather then cool looking things with an odd function. Like if you're going to restrict how many exotics I can have equipped then you best make them powerful.

    I'd argue we have more quest-dependent exotics now than Y1. Or at least a similar number Black Spindle Boolean Gemini No Time to Explain Sleeper Simulant The First Curse Chaperone Touch of Malice Exotic Swords Ace of Spades / Tlaloc / Fabian Strategy ------------------------- Last year, I doubt we had that many. Bad Juju / Thorn / Last Word / ?Invective? / and some Raid guns.

  • We for sure do. But I'm saying that it would be nice to have all exotics that way. Including armor.
