What these people do in their lives affects us because their work affects us.
I once heard someone with a similar complaint about how some actors and professional athletes earn millions and millions of dollars a year, while doctors and other healers do not. The truth is that these entertainers affect the live of millions and millions of people, but a doctor may save, what, less than a handful of people a year each on average. And I'm being generous. Unless they're some sort of first responder/emergency room doctor/nurse, they're just proscribing meds that some journal says they should because of the research and development of some folks in a lab.
A celebrity has probably saved more lives and help more people by improving their moods with their skills and ability than any medical personal have. So, yes, the world will miss the lost of a very beloved and talented recording artist more than the other 57 year olds who passed the same day.
