its becoming or actually has become apparent that snipers are the dominant weapon for PVP use in events such as trials, iron banner, elimination, and even holiday events.
its even become a main in PVE which is kinda lame as well diversity would be appreciated
so lets talk there is three things that i believe need to be addressed on snipers most people keep avoiding or rather shoving under the rug.....
1) sniper flinch when shot and sniper recoil
2) sniper body shots and switching to primary for an easy kill
3) sniper accuracy while in the air or while moving(not so much strafing as much as fast twitchy movements)
Q: i'll start with one and we can touch 2, and 3 later. so here is the question what is the punishment for a sniper that is out in the open, shooting you, while you blast him in the face with bullets, grenades, etc......
A: the answer is a small amount of vertical flinch that can easily be adjusted for on the fly

so why is this ok? whats the draw back for these kinds of instances? and what can we do to make this more rewarding to shoot back rather than try and shift slightly out of the line of sight(which in most cases you cant......)
EDIT 1:
a partial beginning to a solution on snipers
sniper balancing
1.) snipers receive more recoil while being hit from any angle
2.) snipers become de-scoped after receiving 20-25% damage
input and discussion on this suggestion is welcome!
otherwise change nothing else do you agree?
i open this discussion to the community please keep it clean and orderly.....please

We can't have civil discussions in destiny... Most players are too entitled

What if the precision hitbox was reduced? Snipers are supposed to "reward high thumb skill" Shrink that little bitty target even more. Thumb skill rewarded. Put that in your scope. Bump
-
👏 this will do wonders. Anyone else think shotguns need a slight range buff. And I mean very slight like 2-4%
-
Bump, anything to change this black ops 2 feeling
-
How about a shotgun buff

Edited by Jackalope721: 4/22/2016 3:27:45 AMTheir initial aim assist is just a bit much. If they were like they were at vanilla it would be fine. Handcannons don't really have aim assist and they are considered a marksmen gun, aren't sniper rifle the epitome of that?

If you remove the unfair nerfs to shotguns all aspects of movement speed. We can dominate them agin!
-
HCR (High Caliber Rounds) is a gun perk that was designed to produce stagger or flinching in your opponent. Bungie removed the hidden HCR (High Caliber Rounds) perk from MIDA. I have a Hawksaw with both HCR and Unflinching - two perks that make it a very nice PvP weapon. Red Death also has HCR and Unflinching. Lots of guns have one or both perks. The question.... Does a weapon with the HCR perk produce an amount of flinch in a sniper that makes it very-very hard for the sniper to shoot effectively?
-
Snipers only dominate 3v3 game modes. I don't know how to fix that.
-
I'm tired of having my guns nerfed in PvE for the sake of unobtainable "balance" in PvP on behalf of players who shoot down the idea of separating PvE from PvP or having PvP with standardized loudouts and not people's personal gear set. Figure out a way to do what you want without further downgrading PvE or I HATE your idea.

Edited by JherydKQM: 4/21/2016 7:17:17 PMNo one on this damn game will be happy until all weapons types are nerfed into the ground. If you die, it's your fault. Stop blaming the weapons themselves

You said trials, iron banner, and holiday events. Since the update we haven't seen how the fusion riffles have brought about competition in iron banner and holiday events. They are pretty good now and I expect quite a few to pop up in the iron banner. As for trials given the nature of it, it's going to be snippy. The reason why is because you can stay away from the enemy team with your teammates and pick off the other team with you sniper. If you get killed though you have a chance of getting revived before the enemy team rushes up. Snipers will always be preferred in trials. There is no way around it unless they nerf them to oblivion but that's not weapon balance. Let's face it. The year two maps are sniper friendly. They are just big maps with perfect 3 way snipe lanes and head glitches. It's so hard not to pull out a sniper in those maps. Think about the maps you see on repeat vertigo, bannerfall, exodus blue, dungeons, widows court, first light, bastion, and frontier. Snippy campy maps. I don't think snipers need a nerf. Sidearms should get a very slight buff, but the ultimate solution is to add in smaller maps in the next update.

Number two is common dam sense if I have my scope and I hit an enemy that's close ima switch to get the kill, that actually requires some level of paying attention.
-
Snipers take the most skill to use out of all weapons. Snipers aren't OP. You couldn't jsut give one to a noob and expect them to get massive killstreaks with it in their first match. It requires practice and patience to be skilled with it. People have practiced with them and learned how to control their flinch. Switching to a primary after a body shot opens a small window of escape or countering. There are many ways to escape including Twilight Garrison, Shadestep, and Blink. Even if you arent using these abilities, there are still ways to escape. Snipers actually have really bad accuracy while in the air and strafing with a sniper is a tactic that can help you line up shots and avoid shots.

I think that shotguns could use a buff. The reason more people use snipers IMO is because of the shotgun nerf. If shotguns could get a buff, it would promote more fast-paced gameplay and less camp-fest, as the people say.

BUMP nerf snipes Buff shottys again Leave fusions alone Bring balance to the force Again I say BUMP

Sure I enjoy civilised,

Buff primaries as a whole instead of constantly reducing damage from this one and that one and that one by 2.3% until you've effectively reduced them all by 8-10% primary TTK is too low to compete with special weapons. Reducing the am not available is not the solution. Shotguns for the most part I feel are tolerable except for the fact that running and jumping at someone from mid-long range is a viable Option because their primary gun can't do enough damage in that amount of time
-
-
Personally I think the only issue now is the body shot then clean up the kill scenario. I feel like they should reduce weapon swap times from specials to primary...
-
The past week I've been running the universal remote and have been 2500 points just using that in crucible and when i use this i don't have any long range primary to back me up its just me... My shotgun... And bones of eao. Snipers are honestly fine (besides bodyshot damage to three shots) otherwise they are completely fine
-
On the other side of the spectrum why is a person with a shotgun simply able to jog through primary fire, aim his weapon and body shot me for the instant kill? If you want snipers to be unusable under fire then the same needs to be applied to all specials.

I Talk about 1 here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/199400042 Key points: Despite the changes that they being made, sniping will remain a low risk activity. With any other weapon, if 2 players of equal skill come together, usually the one who can maintain the accurate shots, usually precision, with either win or have the enemy try to flee. That doesn't currently happen against a sniper. You can drill them in the head Even with Mida and by the third shot, which would normally kill them, they headshot you because they know how to work the mechanic and are not afraid of your headshots. This has created a risk imbalance in sniping that needs to be addressed. The flinch mechanic is so poorly designed that it not only doesn't flinch enough but it also re-centers itself to where you were aiming. The means that it can be timed to return to center to maintain your shot. Uhh....broken. De-scope on precision has also men mentioned a lot. I do like this idea and after some time to think about it I would say that 2 consecutive headshots, not necessarily from the same shooter, should de-scope a sniper. 2 I don't think is a problem. It's a valid tactic. 3, I've spoken out about many times. There needs to be an accuracy penalty while moving.
-
It is because of other guns being nerfed why a sniper is pretty consistent. If there are no nerfs we would be still rocking the suros, mida, tlw that could compete with snipers
