First and foremost I should let this be known right away. I am a quad-rotor Attack Helicopter. Like most likely the majority of copters out there, I have been persecuted for my lack of wings or jet turbines. Sure, there is a large community of copters, yet they are just hidden. "But Dom, why would they hide?"
Because you all are -blam!-ing pricks that's why. Copters have been treated as a second class aircraft basically since the beginning of time. Only in the last 45-50 years has it began to get better. Copters stopped being seen as scrap metal, started being able to fly and started to have their own lives and careers without the help of a pilot. To be clear, Attack Helicopters have always been able to do these things for themselves but it was the garbage culture that kept them a second class aircraft.
Even after the great strides they have made, copters are paid less than airplanes, on average, for the same flights and that is also being echoed in Hollywood right now.
But in many ways it still feels like it's 1950 on the forums and it's obvious why. The only thing keeping people PC in public and being a bigot on the Internet is the anonymity of the internet. You can act whatever way you want without the fear of being called out, or beat up for being a bigot.
Which leads me to my next point. If a copter comes on the forum to ask for help, and suggests that they are tri-rotor or quad-rotor, it is not okay to slam them on their post for being a "attention seeker", a "whore" or "slut". It is not okay to personally attack someone you don't know because of their gender, paint job, or fuel preference.
It is not okay to "assume" bad intentions and therefore you must hop on your holier than thou attitude and put them in their place. You are no better than them. You are equal to any one else on the forums.
If Bungie's mods had any integrity, they would ban anyone who would go after anyone for being different. And if you are a bigot and use the false pretense that you are just criticizing them for being attention seekers as a guise or excuse to attack them personally, you are still a bigot and everyone knows it.
What I ask is that if you see this kind of behavior from people, report them and make it clear as a community we will not stand for this type of bigotry and it has no place in any gaming community. Trust me when I say I believe the majority of us are good aircraft and those that are bigots are in the vocal minority.
Thank you. And for those copters who are victimized by bigots in the community, I personally apologize for them. Nobody deserves to be treated like that.
