the money that they made from micro transactions is probably what paid for it. its a common thing now in video games now, micro transactions fund DLC to pull people back to the game.

No you don't. That warlock helm still hasn't been released has it? Call me cynical but I refuse to believe the company that charged 40 pounds for an expansion and 25 pounds for an item that levels you to 25 will give out free content. There's a higher chance of santa claus being real than this dlc being free as opposed to cut content from ttk

Show me where "that warlock helmet" i dont have was listed as part of TTK. The content coming out is paid for by microtransactions (the justification for instituting them) So if you haven't bought any, it's free to you.

It was in the armory along with twilight garrison and other unreleased exotics

Those were put into the armory after they were datamined and revealed to the masses involuntarily on account of bungie. That's not advertisement or confirmation of content release in any way.
