You also respond with unlinked counters.
-
The burden of proof is on them. I don't actually have to disprove what is said if they can't prove it.
-
You are correct. But when you make a counter claim, you have to back up that counter with a link if you expect your opponent to back their claim up with a link as well.
-
I'm waiting for them to back up their claim, then I will back mine.
-
That's childish and goes against the spirit of debate. If you want to go into an argument with sources, bring your sources out right at the beginning. But don't demad they have sources, and and such state, explicitly or implicitly, that their arguments are invalid due to the lack of sources thereof, and immediately follow it up by bringing up your own unsourced arguments that are somehow more correct than theirs just because it was said by you. Demand sources, or don't. But play by your own rules.
-
Nether side is proven right in that case. They should provide proof for their claims first, then once I know they actually plan on debating I will start collecting sources of my own.

Edited by aceebro: 3/18/2016 8:45:35 PMBut... You aren't doing that. You make unsourced claims constantly in this thread (see: the probably ten or so notifications I just gave you). You only ask for source when suddenly you can't argue any more. It's changing the rules of the game mid argument, and it (obviously) puts you at an advantage. It's unfair not because you're right, but because you're cheating. It's rude to your opponent.
-
They didn't give sources. So I don't until they do.
-
That's all well and good, but once you ask for sources that mentality has to go right out the window. You are changing the rules, so you have to be the first one to follow the new ones.
-
Where did I do this?
-
You did it to me m80.
-
Edited by Edcub One: 3/18/2016 9:39:13 PMYou gave no proof.
-
Sure I did. It just wasn't sourced. Just like every other claim in this damn thread.
-
That is why I'm asking for sources.
-
Edited by aceebro: 3/18/2016 9:47:11 PMYour claims aren't exempt. You only recently sourced some of them. If you want to say that unsourced claims are somehow problematic, then you have to admit that you are part of the problem and fix your behavior. Otherwise, treat the thread as a casual discussion on character survivability, and stop using the source card as a red herring that doesn't actually add to the arguments in any way.
-
Edited by Edcub One: 3/18/2016 9:50:48 PMI only give sources if they do. If they don't then I don't. I will try to be more demanding for sources then.
