Guys guys... About the news.. Be at least once happy...
It's a free DLC right, people working on that content are not making any money for the company. Yes they will reuse some stuff we had before, and that's totally fair. How can you make new content to make people happy and still don't waste too much money on it => reuse old stuff to make some new, that's a fair compromise ?
They have a team working hard on the next big expansion later this year and another team even bigger working on Destiny 2 for next year. It's not like if lazy developers were taking drugs with some Russian chicks around a swimming pool at the top of Bungie's building.
Edit: I saw a few comments about the DLC being part of TTK. So Instead of Free DLC, let's say then "you don't need to pay more for it" DLC. But I guess it's the same issue for any "Free DLC" (the division, the witcher...), it's never really free if you had to pay for a game at first. *Okay*
Edit2: Okay they get money from the emotes that many people bought. But if the money is an issue for you I guess you didn't buy any emotes in the first place.
Edit3: Sorry for my English !
Edit4: it is sad that I just wanted people to stop complaining and to just be happy once but they found a way to focus on FREE and DLC on my post and that's all... I guess I should just give up on them... :/
Edit5: People are just reading the title of the post and comment... :/ so i just changed the FREE to DON'T NEED TO PAY MORE.
-
I bought it, I get to complain. It's really that simple.
-
Its not free. Its a part of the Taken King, which was quite pricey for a DLC.
-
Do you have to download it?.......Yes Does is cost anything?........No So, what's the issue? It is free downloadable content. Cannot argue with that.
-
There's a pretty significant difference between "included in your purchase of TTK", and " hey guys, this one's on the house!"
-
It's not free, we have all paid for it already but haven't got shlt

"Wheres the new content this looks like Prison of Elders thats old content I want new content". -The Community

Thousandth reply called it

Really don't understand the people complaining about how you had to buy TTK to get this update. How many people are really still playing that didn't get TTK

Edited by XBT SNAKE: 3/19/2016 3:04:54 AMWow. So you mean if I go to the PlayStation store on April 12th on my PS4 I can get this new update for free? Good thing, here I thought I had to buy TTK to get it. Oh wait you do need to own TTK? Well what do you know, guess it's really not free. EDIT: don't forget the stupid amounts of money dummies wasted on emotes and $25 level boosters.
-
Actually we paid for them they were supposed to be in ttk but bungie took them out and made it like a new content and what so
-
Free? You had to purchase TTK to get it so no, not free.
-
There was no mention of nerfing fusion rifles.. Until this happens no one will be happy.
-
Mehhhhhhhh who would want new content after 6 months anyway ;D
-
Im excited for this
-
Why doesn't crota just use his oversoul to kill the Guardians immediately?
-
Free? Only for the players that already bought TTK. And this content has been there since TTK release, just not available to us. That is the only logic for new content being "free".
-
Free = shit content. Don't get ur hopes high
-
Dlc my ass.
-
Free content? From Bungie? Is that confirmed?

"free" has a special meaning when it comes to bungie games as of late bungie makes a game, hacks off over half of it and then stretches that content across 2 years as paid DLC and "free" content updates. In general they only release it slowly over time to reduce the amount of trade-ins of the game that cannibalize new game sales for them. They also release DLC so that used game buyers have to send money to bungie as well. bungie blocks matchmaking on high reward activities just to motivate players to bring new buyers to the game bungie is as transparent as a block of coal with regard to its development, partially due to activision telling them to stop saying alarming things that will make the stock value drop, but mostly because bungie is engaging is pretty egregious skinner box mechanics, DLC strategies and burnout loot grinds which make most of their plans seem antagonistic to their players. nobody needs to be "thankful" for game content they already paid for. they question why they didn't get it when they first bought it, as well as many other questions. Peeps like OP are exactly how bungie wishes everyone would embrace their money making strategies. Bungie is out for their own best interests and is doing the bare minimum for maximum financial benefit. Bungie was flabbergasted by the relatively low metacritic that denied them their bonuses. They are out of touch as well.

Just read the update. I notice the PVE bit says new 'challenges', which sounds like double talk for 'rehashed content made a bit harder'. I'm only hanging out for brand new PVE content so if it's what I'm guessing it is, I certainly won't be back. But yes, for those still playing, free is good. Just not good enough for me to play again (yet).

Microtransaction lots of them.
-
I fully agree with what you said. The fact is that people on these forums just like complaining about something, because it somehow gives their existence meaning...

I'm sorry. Nothings ever free. If you watched or read the eurogamer interview with luke. You may have noticed him talking about perceived value. Also he said he wasn't sure how many strikes would be made available. So. Was this a planned piece of salesmanship on bungies part. It's like how we always see. A candy bar that says 25% more free. On a package at the store. Yet. If this was true. That candy bar would've compounded into a small car by now. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-22-destiny-the-taken-king-director-defends-40-expansion-price-tag

You notice how they are calling it an 'update'. You're going to wish you paid $20 for something that has substantial content. It's not a DLC, and keep your expectations low.
