Lounge Room, Cruiser
Night time
Belle sits in the lounge, legs crossed. She is reading a small blue book with the name "Lord of the Flies" written on the side. A simple smile is spread across her lips. She had joined the crew recently, and knew virtually no one... Say for the the small group of volunteers working on sign up. Space was such a funny place. Not that she need the company... She was fine on her own. Even then, she didn't mind this place. Crew bustled here and there, screens played shows, and people talked. Despite the social disdain she held, she felt content. Subconsciously she sings a small tune, something she did when she was lost in a good story. It was a beautiful piece. She leans back into the cushioned chair as sleep slowly consumes her. It had been a long day, and she was tired.

Belle doesn't seem concerned, just blindly amused. "You tell me. I hitch a ride off of Dioxul, stating I'm heading to a merc Corp cruiser and the crew drops me off at the closest in space deposit... I suppose that's my fault for trusting farmers... But, I can assure you that I'm more used to you alive than dead... More so, you don't threaten me. Physical touch, weapon drawn. Alpha superiority tactics, proving you are an aggressive warrior. Trust me, you are nothing new. Put the gun down and let's be civil... And less macho."
-
"The gun was aimed at you not to be tough, but because I was prepared to fire. If your story never checked out, which it did thankfully, I would have fired." She says, before pulling the pistol away, gently letting it rest in her holster again. "Alright, what's your name and squad?"
-
"Prepared to fire. Clear signs of dehumanizations and low worth for other life... This crew is insane. Names Belle. I have no squad yet because the girls handing out paperwork are more interested in their holo tapes than giving details." Belle turns around and folds her arms. So much for safety in a public lounge. As long as she wasn't put in the squad with this woman... She would be content.
-
"Alright. Look, I do apologize for the gun, new faces in the middle of a large expanse of space are... Well, most people would have shot first assuming you stowed away after the arena... That's another story though. Anyways, I'm Natalie Kovichski, a soldier of Task Force Alpha here. Leader, actually." She states, extending her right hand to Belle.
-
"Pleasure..." Belle places a gentle hand in Natalie's and gives a soft shake. She withdraws it a moment later and gives Natalie a look over. "Genetic enhancements or augmentations?"
-
"Augmentations. There was... Well, long story, the crew onboard this ship was thrown into an arena and forced to fight. I lost use of my legs that day, and an old friend recommended I augment myself to help protect the Infinite Pioneers. And so I'm augmented." She states, her two legs popping into a set of eight, spider-like legs, her waist up remaining intact.
-
"Hmmm." Belle folds her arms and observes. "Looks like without proper medication, your mind would eventually go numb. Neural interface augments put plenty of strain on the mind. I can give you medication... Unless your augments run on batteries..."
-
"Actually, that would help quite a bit, thank you. What team were you hoping to join up with, miss?"
-
"I'm not sure. I figured I'd find work in the Mrs lab till I got clarification..." Belle gives a light shrug.
-
"Well you're the only one in the lab, then. The teams consist of Shadow Company, the spec ops crew, Bad Company, the crew you call when something needs to be done with a lot of noise and explosions, Fireteam Charlie led by Major Pavel, the team for hostage rescues and such, TFA led by myself, which is the main assault force in the Infinite, and Fireteam Alpha, the heavies with friggin' 20mm Cannon rifles. That's the available squads, any would be in need of a possible medical unit."
-
"Hostage rescue sounds best. It would be nice to help out the wounded. In the meantime..." Belle pulls a vial of white, blue striped pills from her pocket. "Jaxenophetamine... Heavy duty acceptor and replicator of nerve cells and pain reliever. If you ever feel like your becoming addicted, please talk to me about a less powerful drug." She tosses the vial to Natalie.
-
She catches the vial, gently placing it in her pocket on a jacket. "Addicted?" She curiously asks, giving off a questioning look.
-
"The need to take the pill even when it accepts augments and there is no pain. Your head will swirl and may result in possible nosebleeds." Belle waves it away. "Though... You seem mentally acute... For the most part. I'll assume you'll be fine."
-
"Aye, I'll hope so. Thank you, Belle, and good luck under Pavel, assuming you get in his team." She says, flashing her a smile, before walking out of the room once more.
-
Belle lets out an uneasy sigh. This was going to be a rough journey.
End
Pavel, aka Ghost Lead, walked past her but paused when he saw her. He back tracked and stood in front of her. "Who are you?"
-
Her eyes remained glued to the pages of her story, but she talks directly towards Pavel. "Belle. New Recruit, sir. Are you my CO?"
-
"Depends, you assigned to delta company?"
-
"Delta? No, I don't think so... I didn't really look over the paperwork... And the taxi ship was eager to tell me nothing. Mind giving me a rundown." She sets her book down and gives her full attention to Pavel.
-
"5th special operations group, 1st battalion, delta company. Group for specialized tactics, or Ghosts as we're known. We handle special operations as you might have guessed. A good book?"
-
Edited by Chesh I Guess: 2/27/2016 5:47:05 PM"Yes, sir... Or at least some may say... I assume that if you have a med bay that's where I'll be stationed. That or a team of medics."
-
"Got a few medics, and a medbay, no team of solely medical personnel. I think we processed your paper work, if you want I can move you between teams once. But only once."
-
"Uhhh. No thank you. I'll find a team and just stick with it."
-
He laughed. "Not that simple. Squads are set, the idea was to have certain people to be good at certain things. Not sure you'd be able to keep up with everyone."
-
She scowls. "I can keep up. And on that note... I think I'll talk to another supervisor about it." She returns to her book.
