Why do you base pvp skill off k/d for trials?
Use destinytrialsreport and check win percentage, k/d in last 15 matches and ELO.
ELO: score improves based on teams you beat, improves alot if you beat great teams, improves slightly if you beat not so good teams and vice versa for losses. I would much rather have somebody who can win as a team then who has a huge k/d. I have seen people with 1.7 k/d and 1200 elo because they just play for themselves and lose games.
Moving onto grimoire it's impossible to judge unless they have max grimoire or there abouts. Max grimoire means they have played all pvp aspects and pve aspects alot and won alot of them. They atleast know how to play. Trials is a whole different level though.. You can win 20 rumble matches back to back but you won't understand trials. You need to learn all about rez snipes, pushing for rez, knowing what supers are coming and when to time supers to benefit the team. You need to adapt round by round at times. Grimoire doesn't come into it.

I base trails off KD because some people come from a FPS background and come in and are good at PvP. You can see it early on in their KD

I think grimoire does matter in pvp SOMETIMES (noticed how I typed in caps ok) cause most teams with a high grimoire I've come across have been hard to beat, and the ones with lower most of the time suck and once in a blue moon theres a guy with low grim and is really good cause pvp is all they do.

Kd aint that reliable I think combat rating says more, that is not based entirely on kills but also assists etc.. You can get it from Destinytracker
