NOTE : GHOST GIVE 760
NOTE : CALCIFIED FRAGMENTS GIVE 310
If a person has more experience they tend to have more skill.

I am not saying all low Grimoire score players are bad, I am not saying all high Grimoire score players are good. But majority of the high Grimoire score players are good, and majority of the low Grimoire score players are not good. Think about it, there are a lot of people with low Grimoire scores, some this might be there first FPS, some might be extreme casuals, some just don't care. But people with high Grimoire score play the game a lot, they care about the game and spend a lot of time on it.
Let me give you an example. I have been doing this for the past weeks and it has worked out for me. When I am looking for a raid group I would go to LFG and post something similar to this.-
Need people for a fast raid run. Only requirement I have is must have a 4600+ Grimoire score
And I posted this morning -
Looking for 5 players to do 2 fast runs. Only requirement is to have a 4600+ Grimoire and have enough time to run it more than once. 1 run should take 50mins.
The people who met the requirements had no problem messaging there Grimoire score, but others got so mad, they called me a "grimoire scub", "fu.cking retarded", and more stuff. Some people can't read at all and posted their light level. I didn't care about light level at all. It happened every week I've done this. It was really ridiculous.
Do you want to know the time for all 3 of my runs?
54m 27s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4662858649 (Warlock)
1h 4m 53s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4663058534 (Titan)
51m 39s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4663230540 (Hunter)
All of these runs went smoothly, becasue of that one requirement. If I would've had a light level requirement there is no telling what will happen, majority of the time it just goes bad. It is so easy to get carried to 315 and it is so easy just to get there without trying. Grimoire score shows more skill then a light level. So please don't message me on LFG if you don't meet my requirements and don't say "add me" if you don't meet them either.
It's my fireteam, if you don't meet the requirements then you can't join so don't rage at me. Do you rage at someone asking for 315+ light level when you are 313? Do you rage at someone asking for Black Spindle, when you don't have the gun yet?
Now let tell you what actually goes into a Grimoire score, and its not just dead ghost -
Your grimoire score will increase if you :
Get Crucible kills on Warlock, Hunter and Titan
Get PvE kills on Warlock, Hunter, and Titan
Played during the House of Wolfs days, when fallen attacked on patrol
Killed certain bosses in PvE
Killing an amount of certain enemies in PvE
Get weapon kills with all types of weapons, not just a shotgun and hand cannon ;p
Playing multiply PvP modes and winning at them, not just control and iron banner.
Playing maps in Crucible for the first time.
Playing events in the game,
Finding ghost/frags exploring the game.
All these will increase your Grimoire score, becasue it gives you a feel for the game, you are playing the game while doing this. Yes this might be like other FPS games but it still plays a bit different. Yes some people have an awesome FPS background and are already amazing in PvP.
Someone who has been playing longer would know more. There are some prodigies in the world but not a lot, it takes time to get good. Remember in Elementary school when your teachers would always say practice makes perfect, it actually works a lot of the time but not all the time.
PvP Skill section of the tread -
When I look for a trails group on LFG I always say have a 1.3 KD or higher because my KD is 1.3. I do not base PvP skills off grimoire, because lots of people have a FPS background and are good.

Grimoire is basically the same thing as prestige in Call of Duty. You don't have to be good to get high Grimoire, you just have to put time into it. But, higher Grimoire players typically are more reliable. You run into a high Grimoire player that doesn't seem to have eyeballs and thumbs once in a while, but most are good to have on your team. Medal score is almost the same as Grimoire. Typically the more you have, the better you are. I myself only have 1.5 Million, yesterday evening I absolutely took a violent dump on this team in Trials, I got some hate mail so I decided to look up the K/D's. They all had 3+ million medal score and each of them had between a 1.0 and 1.2. My cousin is an absolute monster at this game. He has like 4300 Grimoire score and only has 500k medal score but he would probably destroy your dreams when you look at his Trials K/D. AwesomeSniper82.

I would say that certain components of grimoire imply a certain skill level, but as far as I know the vast majority of grimoire score can be obtained just playing the story and looking at destinyghosthunter. It does display how much time you sink into Destiny which should typically be a useful indicator that someone cares to play well, but I would argue it's not that big of an indicator.
-
So I have no skill? Hmmmmm... That's ok though! Its what you ask for, is not what I seek! Enjoy Destiny while you are still young, when the little light grows up, Destiny will just be a blur for everyone that used to play!!
-
I would say Grilmoire is a measure of experience. There is really no way to quantify "skill". You can see the effects of your "skill" from K/D or other scores but that still isn't a measure of skill necessarily. (You can play it safe and not make plays that would benefit your team and have a higher K/D)
-
Assessing skill based on Grimoire score is the best way to separate the wheat from the chaff in PvE, but it's a useless indicator in PvP
-
My past few raids have been smooth like butter. 319+ and 4700+ grimoire.
-
Grimoire shows what you got (ex: exotics) and places you have been to (ex: black garden).
-
X<3000 Beginner 3000<X<4000 Casual playing X>4000 Experienced All these values are very general though, in terms of skill they don't mean much.
-
Grimoire only gives you an idea of how much time someone has put into the game. A majority of grimoire is done through simple farming (collecting ghosts, getting kills with classes, weapon kills). Others can require a little skill, namely the 3v3 and rumble wins. But even with the 3v3 (including trials) you can be carried for all the wins. So you cannot determine skill from those. So again, grimoire is only how much time someone has put into the game. Nothing more, nothing less.
-
Not skill, experience. Now, EXPERIENCE can equal skill, so theoretically Grimiore = Experience = Skill, but not exactly. I wouldn't rely on it. Some people have a lot of experience and are still absolutely terrible. For them, experience is persistance, which, while being a good quality, is not what you're looking for if you're intending to speed run raids. So if we accept that experience CAN equal skill, enough it would be more appropriate to say that Grimiore = skill 50% of the time and Persistence the other 50% of the time. Which basically means it's a crap shoot and you're not helping yourself any.
-
Medal Score = PvP experience Grimoire Score = PvE/PvP experience I have little skill in any region of the game, yet I have relatively high Medal and Grimoire scores. It's just a measure what what you have done whilst playing the game. Not a show of skill, in my opinion.

Edited by HectX: 2/16/2016 7:55:39 PMI never bothered to collect anything that related to grimoire, including ghosts until I had people start kicking me because of low score... Opened up a ghost finder and collected them in a short time... I'd still be missing most if it wasn't for that. Some goes for those stupid golden chest. I didn't want ior need the experience that comes along with obtains a high score. Give me my favorite weapons and I'll kill 50k enemies. Tell me to kill 10k with a weapon I don't like as much but can still be just as effective... I'll pass.
-
Maybe it does equate to skill, more than half the time maybe, but definitely not 95% of the time. You could play a long time, build your grimoire and still be so bad you bring the whole team down.
-
It shows how much they play. If someone has less then 3500 that usually shows they are kinda new or filthy causals
-
Probably a reasonable indicator of experience but today I went from 4300 to 4400 by finding ghosts. I don't feel 100 more skilful.
-
I have a high grimoire and I am quite average.
-
No, it means "time played" mostly.
-
No, at least not directly. Grimoire is a direct indicator of experience and dedication, as the majority of Grimoire Points come from killing a lot of enemies or with a certain weapon, and winning/completing PvP and PvE activities. If someone has a high Grimoire Card Score, that means that they are very experienced with Destiny, and have likely been playing since Year 1. However, experience in and of itself usually indicates the skill of those who have it: The more you play, the better you slay.
-
I would probably tend to agree, though I personally only have 4030 grim, I'm usually one of the strongest links in a raid group, but generally I notice people with under 3500 score get their asses handed to them on a regular bases in raids, even being 318+
-
i watched a video to find all the ghosts so i'm good? meh i never cared about that crap when i was playing but i was always last guy standing in raids
-
I have max grimoire and I'm a pretty good player. Most of the grimoire you get now a days is through completing all the end game stuff. So I guess yeah maybe
-
Edited by Nike: 2/16/2016 7:36:05 PMIt's like around 70% of the time tbh. There are people with high grimoire who just plain don't have PvP experience. But PvE wise, high grimoire players are god tier from what I've played with. I'm a max grimoire player myself and I've had experience with every single thing in the game and I'm proficient in all of them. But not everything can be based off a checklist, but that does show motivation though. ~TheGreatNike
-
Not 95% .. Maybe 75%.
-
I have a 3955 grimoire. You tell me
-
I won't f the team over in a raid and I have a low grim
