Yesterday I used a primary weapon telemetry trying to level an auto rifle I rerolled (I don't have ttk, so occasionally I reroll weapons for new perks to try)
I launched classic 6v6, and it literally took 6 minutes to find enough players to start a match, and then even more time before we actually landed on the planet and started the match. At that point I last nearly a third of my telemetry just waiting to actually play the game.
I think telemetry should not start counting time down until you are actually in an area where it can be used, such as strikes, patrol, raids, or crucible. It shouldn't count down while in the tower, or in orbit.
Do you guys agree? Why or why not? Do you have an idea of what might be better?
Edit: Several people have claimed you are able to use motes of light to upgrade non ttk weapons as well, I'll look into that, as telemetry doesn't feel very effective anyways
Edit: Using motes of light does in fact work to level any equipped item that is not leveled completely, I was not aware of this and thought it only worked for ttk players.

If you're going to use telemetries, it's best to do it when you have 10+bounties to turn in. I had the same issue with them at one point. That was the only way I found to make them effective. Loading in and out of areas eat up time.
