Last I checked $50k a year is basically the bare minimum now to be considered middle class - anything below that is essentially working-poor or just straight up poor. Hell even people making 250k a year doesn't necessarily cut it depending on where you live because real estate costs are insane BUT NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS. It's one of the few disappointments I have with Bernie from an otherwise fantastic candidate - no one seems to want to talk about how the astronomical cost of land is adversely affecting literally everything in the economy.
Trump sure as hell won't since that's his bread and butter. Back in the 50's a nice house might have cost anywhere from 5~20k and people generally didn't spend more than 3% of their annual income on their mortgaes or rent. Now it's closer to 15~20% *just for your home* nevermind food utlities or entertainment etc. This is a major problem that needs to be addresssed.
