On his defense the health care system under a single payer system over 10 years, will save 13 trillion. So out of the 19 that's only adding 6 more. And for shit that would help the average worker. I don't know I like rand pual so I started leaning right but us republicans are blaming everyone but the rich public interests. To each his own though.

Edited by Flailing_Weasel: 1/23/2016 12:03:24 AMA better alternative would be to crack down on frivolous government spending and distribute it elsewhere such as health care and education. Not like that would ever get past Congress. Gotta have them tanks. Who else will police the world?

My message to "barnie"...

Bernie is terrible, he is going to increase the already to high taxes even more. So some dumb lazy ass shit can go to college.
-
Bernie is trash, we all know this. The only people voting for him are hipsters who think they're cool and that if the government makes everything free, all is perfect because THEY arent paying!

Edited by Taskforcem85: 1/22/2016 12:32:35 AMtl;dr washingtonexaminer doesn't understand how economics works. 11.6 trillion for healthcare is less than what we pay currently. Sanders plan saves people money (but we can keep ignoring that fact because who gives a shit about facts lets focus on the scary word TAXES). 3 trillion isn't going to even matter to the average american and will only mess with large business. If anything this is 3 trillion more to spend on his other policies I'll count this as a + not a - for the average american. We're at 11.6 trillion that doesn't matter and 3 trillion that helps. +3 trillion in revenue sounds great. Corporate offshore = +1 trillion in revenue for the US economy once again and comes from (you guessed it) the top 1% of the 1% I don't even have to get into the rest. This is essentially around +5 trillion on government spending without harming the middle class at all. tl;dr#2 This helps the middle class, and closes most tax loopholes while also increasing government revenue. Let me be serious with you guys for a moment. It's important to not get your information from extremely biased sources. The washingtonexaminer is extremely right leaning (which should be clear by reading their articles). Try to actually dive into real sources, and digest the data. It'll be hard, and maybe even a bit scary but it is necessary in a democracy to stay informed on the truth.

We need Washington back
-
That's one of the only thing I agree with him on. Higher taxes for the rich, although I heard he wants higher taxes for the middle too. That's not good. He's far too left on most issues IMO.

Edited by ASyrianRefugee: 1/19/2016 10:05:12 PMThe problem with Democrats is all they focus on is social issues. Obamas sitting around worrying about "His sons" Mike brown adn trayvon getting shot meanwhile our debt grows 10 trillion under him Bernie Sanders is EVEN WORSE and more focused on social issues. He has even stated his number one focus is social issues. Our Number one focus needs to be our debt Thats why i cant even think about voting democrat

...nice...

We should keep Obama running for president

> universal healthcare > youth jobs program > universal tuition for responsible students I think it's worth it. The significant tax revenue (tax increases) are on people who make over $500,000. Even then the marginal rate isn't too ridiculous (around 40%). Lower and middle class tax hikes will still save them money compared to current costs of education and healthcare. More jobs and more training means a bigger middle class and more tax payers = more tax revenue. I think the fear of these proposals is nearly fair, except that they are speculation as well and are cynical as to market behavior, whereas I generally believe that people will try to make more money even if their taxes go up a few %.

this is a pretty bias article. There is no reason you should do the math over 10 years. That is basically a random number since presidency is only in 4s. Also it should be noted that 19.6 trillion in 10 years is less than 2 trillion a year, about $6 a person increase but it isn't coming from people. With that increase we get literally free health care (like the rest of the world). Healthcare for me as a healthy individual is closer to $1000 a year than $6 so each person has a lot more money in their pocket. Sanders plan also does not involve any change in income taxes if you make less that 2.5 million too. He also plans to close a lot of loopholes so taxes can't be evade by companies which is great.

I can't decide if I wanna act like a victim and be a liberal or look down on people and be a conservative.
-
Can't we all agree that there is no good candidate?
-
Anyone who votes for a democrat is voting for a socialist. Making you the most un-American pos and a disgrace to our American ancestors

What I'm about to say is irrelevant to Bernie or the presidential debate tbh. I think welfare and disability should be given to people in the form of a credit card and monitored. I, personally, know people that get checks from the government for disability and go and spend he money on cigarettes, alcohol, and heroin. Even though you can still trade off credit card purchases for money from your friends, it would make it a little harder for drug addicts to get high on the money we as taxpayers pay to the government. A family member of mine, has no job and has been on disability/welfare for the past few years because of some psychological issues (bi-polar and stuff). Even thought I never -blam!-ing got how she got money from the government for that shit. She spends all of her money on heroin and cigarettes. It really pisses me off because 1. I pay taxes now so she's getting high (partially) on my money and 2. She treats my mother like shit. Getting a little off topic here, but this is the off-topic forum :). To get back on topic somewhat, I have no clue who I'm going to root/vote for but I will do research on which candidate is most concerned with fiscal issues over social issues and vote for them.
-
Good. America's tax rates are far too low.
-
Or, perhaps, you could do a little research. You are quite misinformed.
