What needs more skill in PVP!? Sniper or Shotgun?
Just curious to see what majority of the forum users believe takes more skill. I am not talking about any other game, so please don't compare to anything else (BO3, Halo, etc)
Feel free to express your opinion why sniping/shotgun take more skill.
Happy trials folks!
**Btw if yall could bump or like the post so more people get to see it* would be greatly appreciated!**
snipers all day
Edit: Thanks for everyone's input! As many have said it really takes no skill for either weapon if your are just camping a lane/door**

Who in there right mind would say shotgun... point and shoot and point blank = no skill, but still effective sadly
-
Sniping in general and shotgun ranges are unrealistic in this game
-
Sure, the snipes I have gotten with my 1k Stare are a bit unreal. But I would take that any day over getting killed by a BBQ Warrior with his Felwinters.
-
They are both pretty ez tbh.

Well, snipers do take more skill to be good with, but the risk vs reward factor is completely different between the two. First shotguns require you to throw yourself directly at your opponent. Chances are if you run into more than one person that's paying attention, even if you get a kill, you'll die as well. With snipers on the other hand, you have the range advantage. This game also is extremely forgiving on getting hit while aiming at your target, so even if you have someone unloading a primary at your face, you can land a headshot efficiently. Now it definitely takes more to land a headshot with a sniper than a 1-shot kill with a shotgun, however if you have someone experienced behind a sniper, they have a huge advantage over anyone else. If you go against a sniper pro in trials, good luck actually getting anywhere. I can't say how many times I've encountered teams in trials where there were two really terrible people, and one sniper pro. Well the sniper pro could literally pull away a 10+ kd against any team that isn't proficient with a sniper. There's literally no effective way to counter a good sniper, other than being a good sniper.

I shotgun like 99.9% of the time but I'm not going to talk shit about players that do either one exclusively because there is no point. I can give you a host of reasons for why I get killed when I play crucible but it doesn't matter. I don't care what weapon or super kills me, if I am having a bad day, which is 50/50 if you go by my stats, I just get pissed because I keep dying. Shotguns and snipers each take their specific skill set and that is all there is to it. You can say what you want about either one but I am just going to assume there is some resentment due to being ended by the weapon you are complaining about. The truth is the best players will use whatever works best for them and they are still going to beat you regardless. Ok, I will shut up now.

It takes more skill to use only your heavy.
-
Now days fusion rifles require the most skill
-
Perhaps not skill, but need to be way more meaningful in where you point your gun lol
-
At least shotguns encourage you to move
-
Felwinters matador party crasher. My bad I misread the title.
-
Snipers are always more skill. I've tried shotguns a few times, and it's too easy. Anyone who voted shotgun, sucks at sniping.
-
Neither. Fusions and side arms
-
Snipers take superior thumb skills and map awareness while shotguns take superior map awareness, speed, and movement skill. Overall snipers are more skillful but in order to shotgun successfully you have to practice and learn how to be fast and also learn the maps.
-
Slide shotgunning and blink shotgunning actually takes some practice to master, but so does sniping. I actually have a much better k/d when I snipe/last word than I do as a pulse/shotgunner. I enjoy both
-
Which trolls put shotguns??
-
Two different kinds of skill. Snipers require better gunplay, shotguns require better footwork.
-
Both take skill. But totally different types of skill, so it's hard to compare.
-
If the maps weren't primarily set up for close quarters combat, i would say shotguns take more skill. But the close environment on most maps means sniping takes marginally more skill. Camping sniping takes the least skill of anything, tied with shotgun camping. But if you run and snipe and run and shotgun, it does take more skill but only marginally more then using a primary
-
It all depends on how you use the shotty or the sniper. no it takes no skill hiding in the map with your sniper protecting your kd. And no it takes no skill to primary your shotty. but... it takes skill to run around with your primary getting kills but using your shotgun when it's needed in a small room or on an objective. Same with snipers you are a good player if you are knocking people down everywhere around the map, not just hiding in the back.
might regret this
Bump so I can reply later
-
With the December patch it'll surprisingly be shotguns Snipers now have better tracking than truth
-
No skill needed in Destiny.
-
All those who voted shotguns -_- Really?
-
Sniper takes more skill to me. But shotgun still takes skill to use. Heck I can't even use a shotgun after sniping for a while!
