Sure, it isn't the best use of my money, but I wanted them, I had the money to pay for them, and I was willing to pay. I could care less what it encourages. If companies want to make money, let them do it.

That's the worst reason behind anything. Hey a food company wants to make money, you want service you will have to pay for a waiter to even help you, you will still need to tip after your meal though. Do you need to buy groceries? Because every store out there decided they want to make money, your stuff is now tripled...but don't worry, you understand it, they just want to make money. While I don't agree as to how the OP stated it, I have to agree with him on one point. Other game companies will see it as "hey some idiots are buying useless stuff with real money on a game that has next to no content, let's get to work on doing less work and charging everything piece by piece too." Then we will all be upset because that's how every game will start being released, with day 1 content being "microtransactions."
