If I wanted authentic experiences, I wouldn't be playing video games. A developer should never sacrifice content over authenticity. They made a shooter in a universe that has 7 guns of different variations, they could have at least made some up.
They can't just make stuff up when it comes to Star Wars. I suspect we will see some of the new weapons from Episode VII showcased in upcoming DLC, based on this comment.
"We get access to the historical content as well as all new content developed. The only rule we have to really follow is we have to adhere to the Star Wars canon. You can't do something counter to Star Wars and that's fine with us because I think that's why people love Star Wars and the stories around it," Jorgensen said.
See I understand that aspect, there wasn't alot they could do with it, because Disney went ahead and destroyed all the Canon of the universe, so all the cool weapons and such no longer exist. So that brings me to this point, why make a shooter when you can only have 11 guns?

There is always a market for a Star Wars shooter... There are still quite a few Star Wars weapons out there that are not showcased in the game. However, I am unsure which ones are "canon" vs "expanded universe". Here is a list of weapons from the original Battlefront series. I would definitely like to see some of these make an appearance.

Unfortunately most of those are from the expanded universe. The logic of Disney's canon is if it was in the originals or the prequels, it's canon, otherwise it doesn't exist. So only the weapons found in the originals made it into this game, as the prequels aren't playable. While in the originals there were quite a bit of vehicles, both sides had maybe 3 or 4 guns, then they added in their own touches, probably under the consent of Disney to add in stuff like the cycle rifle.

Didn't the phantom menace mention the New Sith Wars

Wasn't the cycle rifle the one used by the Sand People on Tatooine? I hope they come up with some cool new weapons going forward with Episode VII, VIII, etc..

Huh, you are correct about the raider using it, so that was incorrect, but they still only had a total of 11 weapons to work with, one of which was a preorder bonus.

Edited by DownwardSpyril: 11/26/2015 4:42:37 PMI know of 1 more weapon...Leia's Sporting Blaster Pistol. Instead of going with the trooper blaster rifle...that should have been the hero signature weapon for her IMO. Speaking of rebel heroes. I wish they had tailored the character models based on the event/location being played. Instead of just having 1 model for each hero being used across the board.

That would have been nice
