Took me less than 2 hours with the guide on destinycalcifiedfragments.com to collect all the non raid/Court fragments. Then 1 raid run, again making sure you know where to look so you get them all. Then an hour or so in CoO go get a few more, you might have to wait until reset then for the tier 3 to reset. It doesn't take that long, in all honesty the material farming section of the exotic sword quest took longer than my whole pursuit of ToM. It's not a case of not having the time it's making sure you use your time efficiently. Also it's not an out and out requirement for everything. It's the best gun for the daughters/oryx. Bungie said there would never be one to rule them all (like Gally did) and there isn't. Just a whole load of cool exotics which all have their strengths and uses.
