You are crack on. The individual gun nerfs were PvP related, but the wholesale rendering of all year one weapons and gear to worthless? No one wanted that, there was no hew and cry. That was Bungie course correcting and a complete reversal of DeeJ's own words. Not that we are not used to that...
Seriously, point to any post that complained about field scout, firefly, or the variety of gun perks we had. Final round? Sure. Shot package and range finder? Sure.
Where did anyone post, "I sure wish Nightfall rewards would be removed, the XP bonus and great weapon drops!"?
Where did anyone post, "You know, people do these old raids too much. If only there was some way to make the year one content completely irrelevant..."?
Where did anyone post, "I'm tired of playing the old stuff. I wish they would paywall or close off entirely large pieces of the game..."?
Place the blame where it belongs - squarely in the lap of a group of "developers" who are quickly gaining a reputation for unerringly making decisions which make their "MMO" more confined, restricted, and less fun with each "addition".
I agree- this man has literally summed up the devs and this game as a whole.

Ninjas, please move this to #feedback Lol

Edited by loonigus: 11/5/2015 1:47:16 PMWhat fukin blows my mind is the removal of old maps in the new TTK playlist... I love the old maps, but I dont want to stomp lvl 5s there, but iam forced to if I want to play my favorite maps. I understand that classic playlist is there for ppl without TTK, but I have TTK and I want them in my TTK playlist.
-
I love Destiny, but damn. This is spot on.
-
Lol @ the first few complaints. Easy fix, just remove pvp. Its an embarrassment to Bungies previous skill systems.
-
Who agrees HoW got it right?! Like what the hell for the first time you could finally make any legendary weapon or armor max light for any situation needed... They took huge steps backwards.. :/
-
You cry baby, diaper wearing, millennial douchebags. This is how every single mmo works. They don't keep old crap around because... SURPRISE its old. If developers made changes solely based on the minority of the player base then we would have one boring game.
-
The removal of the Nightfall buff actually allows more freedom of play. I no longer am forced into the Nightfall if I want to fully max my xp and rep gain. Class items now offer higher rep gain and you can earn rep in your chosen faction along with Vanguard/Crucible rep. Something not done before TTK. Greater freedom of play also goes into the removal of both elemental primary legendaries and year one weapons. Fatebringer, if you had it, was always the obvious choice for arc burn activities. VoC was generally the choice for solar burns. Why would you use anything else when those were the superior weapons. Now? Well now you actually have a choice. No need to put aside a favorite weapon just to use a vastly overpowered weapon for a burn activity. Relegating raids to the level they were intended for does not much help for freedom of choice. But really, how many MMOs constantly update old raids to still be on par with new ones?
-
Bump. The old raids need relevant versions, and all the exotics need to be brought forward into year 1. Gjally and Thorn already got their nerf, there is no reason to not to upgrade them to year 2
-
You know when TTK and the changes were announced I was fairly ok at the thought of focusing on the new and leaving the old behind. Now with hindsight and hands on experience many of these decisions, which may have been made with the best intentions, I think many of these choices were bad. Bad decisions: - removing the nightfall buff and nerfing bounty xp - leaving a bunch of exotics behind: Necrochasm in particular was useless until days before TTK hit. - making VOG and Crota's End obsolete. - Allowing players to skip all year one content - Removing sources of marks Ways to fix this (probably too late now) - remove elements from all primaries retroactively but make artifacts provide elemental damage to primary weapons e.g. imbues equipped scout rifle with void damage. Artifacts right now are totally useless. - Allow raid gear to be ascended, leave other gear behind - Make a Taken version of VOG, Crota's End scaled to TTK light level. - Allow old raids and PoE to drop marks
-
The person who wrote this, and apparently OP too, know nothing about how companies work. Particularly games development companies. Developers don't make decisions. Managers do. Almost all managers are assholes.

Edited by Kalo: 11/5/2015 4:58:19 AMLeave the weapons in the past, whatever. But give us ways to re-earn them in Y2 with current light levels and infusability, i.e. level 40 VOG/CE

Agree completely

I can't really agree with this... I mean, yea the NF thing is somewhat ridiculous. They shouldn't have taken the buff off and the rewards should be great. Don't forget that the rewards in year 1 would sometimes give you 13 Ascendant shards, though. Everything else is sort of the way it should have been. You shouldn't be able to rely on year 1 weapons to do year 2 things. That would have everyone still be using Fate bringer and VOC and all of those other "Everyones Favorite" weapons. This time around, there is a lot more variety. You can't let everyone still use year 1 weapons and armor because it would make no sense to make new weapons and armor. You have to be able to progress through the game with new stuff with every expansion because that's how most games do it. If you want a fate bringer, grind for the Imago loop with Firefly. It seriously works just as good, if not better, than the fate bringer but it doesn't have Arc burn. You want a VoC? Grind for Treads upon Stars or go buy "Not like the others" from the crucible/vanguard guy *I forget which one it was* There weren't many guns used in variety in year 1. Arc burn NF had Fatebringer and Found Verdict. Solar burn used Voc and whatever shotgun or sniper that had solar. Void you used Word of Crota and Swordbreaker or P.R. There was literally 5 raid guns out of both the raids that were viable weapons that people used all of the time. 1 Fatbringer, 2 VoC, 3 Black Hammer, 4 Found Verdict and 5 Word of Crota. No other weapon from the raids were ever used anyone unless the NF had a specific burn. There were maybe 5 more guns that were from vendors that were worth getting and people used. If everyone would just get over the fact that these year 1 guns aren't ever going to come back then you would see that there are year 2 guns with the exact same stats and sometimes the exact same perks as those guns you loved the most! There is literally a year 2 gun for every favorite year 1 gun. What I think they should do with the old raids and POE is maybe make a Weekly Nightfall Raid. It would run along side the Weekly Nightfall and would be a random raid or POE 35, excluding Kings Fall. The LL would be 300+. The raids mechanics would be the same but maybe they can add a few small things. There would be more yellow bar majors and the HP for each boss fight would be higher. Each chest can drop you moldering shards, Three of Coins, Ant. Ruins, Stolen Ruins, Materials, Weapon Part Stacks, Glimmer Stacks, Random keys for the dread naught, strange coins stacks, mote stacks, random legendary engrams and so on. Each boss battle could drop you a mixture of the last sentence plus a random Nightfall Tier/300+ LL Gear (Guns, Armor, Exotics, whatever). There shouldn't be year 2 varients of the Fate Bringer and all of those raid guns. They should let you be able to replay those raids for different drops though. I personally think that would be the best idea to ever come to light for destiny. That way Year 1 players can have a reason to play those raids again for nostalgia and grinding and year 2 newbs can play them to see the glory of year 1.

Games like these move forward.
-
Uhhh bungie doesn't care lol haven't u noticed
-
I'm so sick of people saying "It's year 2 leave all that year 1 guns behind." I bought Destiny the game so everything until Destiny 2 comes out is DLC and adding on to the original game. I don't give a f*ck what year it is; if I'm still playing the original game I should be able to use what I have earned until I move on to the next game. If they want us to use new weapons make the freaking new weapons better! Each raid the weapons get worse and worse, but now let's take elements off them also. This game has so much potential and I really have enjoyed it, but when it comes to the simple things Bungie just does not get it. It's starting to seem like we should wait until the 2nd dlc after destiny 2 is released that way we can get a full experience with the game.

Edited by Red Moose Jesus: 11/4/2015 10:38:16 PM"needs a read" was an exaggeration. not only is this already how the majority of the community feels, its not even feedback. its just complaints, the OP offers no solutions or reasons to support their claims. thats not feedback. this is the kinda thing they dont read

Look I'm seeing some posts about how people maybe offended by a Christmas themed tower/quests blah blah blah, right? I have an idea perfect for Christmas, it can be 2-3 days long and everyone would love it. Are you ready for this? LOOT CAVE that's right give us the loot cave for 2-3 days. Purples drop all the time anyway so why not? You could decorate the cave in lights, put a snowman up, whatever your little hearts desire. I know what your thinking "but Little Light, what about all the people who sit in the cave and ruin our Christmas?" SCREW EM go back to orbit and try another server. Any new ideas would be great and I hope this gets read. If not I'll copy and paste it over and over.
-
I think they will bring back the old raids with new weapons and armor coming in a future dlc. Like with house of wolves not having a Raid that's what they would do to hold the tides until the next full raid. Which I would prefer compared to having another Crotas end halfass 30 minute raid.
-
-
All these things are the result of one person who wants us to play the game in a very specific way.
-
I miss Phogoth, Sepiks, Nexus, Archon Priest...

Wholesale removal of year one legendaries would be a blessing (atleast in crucible)... So sick of felwinters/secret handshake/[insert random top tier PvP weapon here], when you've spent time and gotten a sweet roll on a weapon just to have a bunch of y1-crutchers hopping around blowing you to bits. Other than that it was pretty spot on.
