Well...the entire point of an analogy is to put something into a certain perspective, not so much to give a real-world comparison. While any sane person detests domestic abuse, I think you're being a bit overly sensitive.

Okay, just did at work. 9 professionals. 2 thought it might be a bit over the top though were far from offended while 7 understood the crystal-clear difference between an analogy for the sake of perspective and an actual comparison, 3 of which are women. Unnecessarily searching for offense is definitely a sign of the modern era and it's sad. There is such a thing as over correction. This is something that people will clearly fall on one side or the other without much hope of being swayed by the other so I'm writing this while simultaneously knowing it's a waste of my time. I think a bit of lightening up is in order but if you choose to go through life searching for offense where none is intended then that choice is yours to make.

Ah, waste of time indeed :) I couldn't have hoped for a more fun response. See, the world is roughly but fairly accurately divided into those that make decisions based on logic with some influence of emotion and those that make decisions based much more on emotion than logic. The fact that you're attempting a petty insult with your response to my reasonable response puts you squarely in the later category. You then go on to equate perceived morality and sensibility with someone's education, or lack thereof, meaning whether you're educated or not, you could use some help in the common-sense department. In point of fact, I'd be willing to bet a month's salary that all 9 are both more intelligent, and more educated, and let's just throw in more sophisticated than you are, but none of that really matters. They simply wake up in the morning and put on their big boy and big girl panties and don't blindly fire from the hip with emotion while looking for boogie men to proclaim offense like you seem to. I'd hate to live in your world.
