I hate snipers. That's practically all there is in trials and skirmish. Especially after Thorn got nerfed. Snipers: Hiding like bitches and taking advantage of the ridiculous target acquisition. Not to mention the perks head hunter and unflinching. I can blast a sniper in the face with a heavy machine gun and he just sits there calmly and snipes me in the head.

I use sniper a lot but when I go to osiris I kick those hiding bitches in the face :D with a ( shotgun ) I also love to shit on those titans with hammers and no brains :D

Sniping takes the most skill because the reticle bouncing is crazy while your getting shot at, and you have to get a head shot. Now I know some will argue that eriene rr4 (or however you spell it, I don't care)can one hit body shot KO somebody, but that is only a 25% chance, which means that you will be aiming for head anyways because there is a 75% chance it does not proc. Also, it has the lowest AA in game which means you still have to have some skill to hit a body shot since there will be little to no help from the game.
-
That litc might look like it should have a 25% chance but it seems the game gives you an 80% chance of having it as your first shot after a reload. Played against a Titan with one. Only killed me once were the heads hot icon came up. Every other 1 shot was a body shot. If say around 4 times.. And one match he fired got me reloaded fired and got a team mate. Both body shots.
-
That is one scenario, and it is simple math. 25% to proc. the fact that this happened ment he got extremely lucky. Im sorry this happened but the facts remain facts.
-
Come on use your head.. Sniping takes the most skill.
-
You do realize how absurd your view on snipers is? Shotgunners to run/jump/blink at you and just press the trigger without even trying. It doesn't require skill, sniping does.
-
Edited by Peligrad: 11/2/2015 2:16:18 PMYou do realize that isn't true at all right? This is trials, not some shitty Crucible round. If you run the gauntlet of the enemy's defense and get close enought to hit them with a shotgun, you earned it. I don't run shotgun in Trials because it plain is too hard to do exactly this. Doing a rush strategy can be effective. But there are plenty of counter play strategies... most notibly running really strong short range primaries like red death or hawksaw and using smart grenades like the Sunsinger's firebolt. This is coming from a guy who did go flawless this week and didn't use a shotgun when he did it.
-
Shotguns are so much easier to use. I ran into quite a few Invective/The Next Big Thing users. Those spammy shotguns are super effective. The reason why snipers are so abundant in Trials is because it's far more competitive and a lot of people think that they will get away with hanging out in their spawn. If your team is any good, they can rush up with shotguns and easily kill the enemy team. My main issue with your post is that you seem to thing running a shotgun is inherently more difficult to run a shotgun in Trials. This week's map is really shotgun-friendly. I have no idea what you're talking about. It's almost as easy to run a shotgun on this map as it is to run a shotgun on Thieves Den.
-
This is just your opinion however, and what worked for your team, IMO I think that shotguns are more OP than snipers because you usually do not have do much aiming, and they have ridiculous range(Conspiracy Theory). It 100% takes more skill to snipe in any game mode because in order to get the reliable kill it must be a head shot, and even with the large hit box and high AA, you still have less than half of the target that shotguns do, for example, I can one hit kill you with a shotgun if I shoot you in the toe from a range double double that of warlock melee (cough, conspiracy theory D cough) but with a sniper it has to be a head shot which all in all is about 1/6-1/10 of a gaurdian's body.

Edited by Peligrad: 11/2/2015 2:54:32 PMThe aiming might be harder, but the positioning involved with sniper in pants-on-head easy. All you have to do is know the best fire lanes and have your teammates feed you info on enemy position and movement. Saying that it takes more skill is just false. To the snipers that can ADS and come up with headshots, I commend them. But they are few and far in between. Most snipers are sitting somewhere with their reticle at head-level in a high traffic area and then pulling the trigger when a someone walks into it. That isn't hard... and with high aim assist, the game auto-corrects the small error that would otherwise result in small misses. IMO, it's just as hard to use a shotgun because you have to position well, ADS, and evade enemy countermeasures. Especially because there are players like me who thrive on playing protection for their teammates and shutting down rushes. In the casual crucible... shotguns do decent, especially in object formats that force close quarters movement. But that isn't the level of skill that the game should be balanced to. At the competitive level, Sniper rifles are by far the most powerful secondary weapons.
-
While I understand your point, I think its false. Although Camping a corner with a shotgun takes way less skill than sniping, even if they are hard scoping. (in my opinion, you are entitled to yours)
-
Edited by Peligrad: 11/2/2015 3:14:27 PMCamping a corner with a shotgun gives you coverage of 10 feet... Camping a firing lane with a sniper rifle gives you coverage of a significant portion of a map... You are talking apples and oranges... THe shotgun guy isn't going to get anyone to bite on his setup when you get at high skill levels. But it is unavoidable to not occasionally cross a sniper's fire line, especially if they have multiple snipers on their team. Camping a corner with a shotgun is not going to win you any ToO flawless matches... It's stupid easy to counter this noob strategy.

Edited by GuardianzofWar: 11/2/2015 1:04:55 PMGod forbid you practice with one ,so you can better with one..rather than sit here ,and complain about it.
-
Because you you can't use one
-
Haha are you serious? Unflinching does next to nothing. Try sniping before talking trash.
-
Yup. Thought it would have been a great perk to have. Sounded like one.. Got a sniper with it in yr 1.went to Crucible with it. Realised it bounces just as much as a sniper without it.. Dismantled said sniper to get ones with different perks

Even though a sniper is the hardest weapon to use in the crucible
-
Lol. Pull trigger. So hard.
-
Dirty ass Shotgunner. Get better at the game and learn how to snipe.
-
Sniping has no place in pvp. At least make it challening with bullet drop and have to lead someone.
-
Same for all the guns so...

These snipers automatically find the head though
