So if I can get an exotic drop for free or buy the same exotic drop then it doesn't matter?
I agree I could care less about these consumables because they won't make any different to the current game, but he is arguing on the fact that there is even an item the exists that isn't cosmetic...
If you can't see the difference well... Bungie wins I guess.

The thing is...telemetries are literally a button push away from getting...because we all know we all sit at max glimmer, even two days after spending it all. I'm not defending micro transactions or pay to win, I honestly dislike micro transactions in any regard. These particular items are just holiday items, that have very little impact on the game. I mean, negligible even. I have too many telemetries I don't use already, dammit. It doesn't even take that long to level up guns anymore, anyway. When they increase exp needed to level up a gun significantly, and keep selling these items, then it's time to worry. As it stands now, they're just reskinned items of things EASILY obtainable in game. Now reskinned exotics, that's a line to cross. They're not easily obtainable. Reskinned legendaries, another line to cross. If telemetries weren't so goddamned easy to get without real money, it would be an issue. But it's literally a few button pushes and bam, you're on equal footing with that dude who spent real money for one that looks different.

Edited by HectX: 10/26/2015 11:20:24 PMThis was my actual post the other one was just shorter. To all the people saying who cares I can get the same stuff as drops for free how is that any different than getting an exotic drop for free or buying the same exotic drop for $? Answer:
there is none
.... Well not exactly the difference is the value you place on the item. I couldn't care less about these consumables because they won't make any different to the current game, but he is arguing on the fact that there is even an item the exists that isn't cosmetic... If you can't see the difference well... Bungie you win. Masks off you you. P.S: Anyone remember the days of farming for glimmer like crazy to upgrade exotics to 2.0 versions. We never know what they will do to the market. Sometimes glimmer is worthless sometimes you will be spending hours to farm for it. Same goes for xp.

But it is just cosmetic. A reskin of a very very very easily obtainable item, one that has almost no effect on gameplay. After about 50 hours of playtime, your at the point that glimmer is almost useless to you and you always have max (I got so tired of seeing craptarch notifications I blow through 15,000-20,000 glimmer every two days on ammo synths, just so I'm not at max) They had yet to cross a line to worry about. I understand your concerns, I have the same worries. But I'm trying to look at this logically and objectively. No matter what are opinions or worries are, the only way to know for sure is time. I'm out once it takes a turn for the worse. However, I personally don't see an issue with holiday and event consumables. Because that's all they are. It's a holiday event, one where you can get everything without spending money. And it's not all that hard, removing a heavy pay to win worry. If it took so long that's it's impossible collect everything without paying, then it's a worry. For now, they've balances it decently this time around.

Like I said you are just determining the value of these consumables to be worthless (which they are in the current market) but the issue people have is that it's already no longer just cosmetic. It being a reskin of a current it also hold no meaning. What if they reskinned a touch of malice and sold it in the store. I can still get it without paying (these consumables and a ToM are not even close to the same thing in just using an over exaggeration). As I said before you also don't know what the future holds in terms of the glimmer market, just like I mentioned before with the 2.0 exotics. Take strange coins and motes of light for example. A few weeks ago people would've been trading coins for motes like crazy (xur still has the option) now people want the other way. If in 2 weeks there is a patch the makes all infusions take 5000+ glimmer (again exaggerated to get a point across) then people would value these "worthless" consumables that they allowed be caused currently they are worthless.

But the value of said micro transactions is honestly what determines if and how much a game is pay to win. It's a holiday event dude, if bungie is smart, consumables like this won't hit unless it's for these special events. If it stays as it is, I don't see a problem. Let people have fun and spend real money for their holiday things and just enjoy the event. This year is a hell of a lot better than the holiday items they had last year. Let's just be happy with that for now. You're trying to predict and worry about a possible future too much right now. Like I said, we just have to wait and see if bungie actually goes in the wrong direction, or keeps it at an acceptable (barely) level.

It's a slippery slope is all... They might just be testing the water to see how far they can go with it.

I believe the phrase you are going for is "couldn't care less". If you could care less, then obviously you care to some point =p.

Edited by HectX: 10/26/2015 11:27:01 PMI agree that couldn't makes more sense but it's an idiom so this is for you, specifically the bold part : p
Etymologists suggest that “I could care less” emerged as a sarcastic variant employing Yiddish humor. They point to the different intonations used in saying “I couldn’t care less” versus “I could care less.” The latter mirrors the intonation of the sarcastic Yiddish-English phrase “I should be so lucky!” where the verb is stressed. The argument of logic falls apart when you consider the fact that both these phrases are idioms. In English, along with other languages, idioms are not required to follow logic, and to point out the lack of logic in one idiom and not all idioms is…illogical. Take the expression “head over heels,” which makes far less sense than the expression “heels over head” when you think about the physics of a somersault. It turns out “heels over head” entered English around 1400, over 250 years before “head over heels,” however, the “logical” version of this idiom has not been in popular usage since the late Victorian era.
In fine with pointing out the lack of logic with any idiom that makes no sense (so pretty much all of them) =). So I'm just gonna say that rule doesn't apply to me ;).
