Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.
Edit: From Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3qax5y/destiny_halloween_event_festival_of_the_lost/
These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

Lmfao xD. You realize all those items can be bought with glimmer lmao or received from bags that you farm candy for :P. Bad troll gets a 0/8 r8ing lol
-
leveling up a weapon is "pay to win"?
-
You get them for free if you fill up a bag by playing the game

Edited by xCPT WOODx: 10/27/2015 4:43:46 AMLeveling up a weapon faster is pay to win? Example to pay to win would be ps4 accommodations.
-
I bought it all!!
-
You mean we get items that do the exact same thing as telemetries? And are on the same cooldown? Insane!
-
They're nothing that wasn't already in the game dude. ..
-
Butthurt
-
Can be acquired from rare packs and theyre just re-skinned Black Wax Idols, Ether Seeds, Resupply Codes, and Blue Polyphage.
-
Stfu.
-
You're an idiot
-
Halloween themed Ether Seeds and Telemetries? Holy shit stop the presses. In case you didn't notice, you can get the consumables from the bags you earn with Eva. smh
-
Look here folks these are the types of people that like to bitch and moan about technicalities in game.
-
When I say drink bleach, I mean like seven hundred and twenty gallons of it. Now go. Drink it all
-
You can't fix stupid. This guy is a perfect example.
-
Wait so we can buy telemetries with real money? Lmao anything you can buy with money right now is an insignificant part of the game.
-
-
Ether seeds reskined ... HOLY SHIT EVERYONE PAY TO WIN! I get more glimmer from fallen now!
-
I do not give a single shit. I have telemetries. I have a Ghost that gives me Glimmer for every Fallen kill. I've got Glimmer consumables coming out of my ears, man
-
It doesn't hurt us players with the little additional not cosmetics. But! Yes, this does pave the road to pay to win. If anyone haven't notice... This is the beta testing for pay to win gear. Alot of people already signed up for yes.
-
Also I hope you know these candies leave with the event so get your panties out of a knot.
-
You're joking right? You've got be joking.

These items have already existing analogues that do the exact same thing. Also all they do is increase your upgrade rate or glimmer pick up. Both of these are next to meaningless once you are at end game. Everyone is getting way too butthurt about microtransactions. Handled properly, they are an excellent way for a developer to generate revenue from those willing to pay. Purely cosmetic items and slightly softening the grind for people willing to fork over less than any adult spends on one night out isn't even close to pay-to-win. And here's the kicker... that revenue being generated by not you will very likely (see the recent Kotaku article) result in new free content for you. I understand being skeptical of microtransactions, but they've been used in the past without ruining the game. Remember when Black Ops 2 sold weapon skins and sights? You can't tell me that the game was ruined because you got to see Mr. Winky (fake Hello Kitty) in your kill cam.
-
....... You can get every single one of those items, those exact items, without paying another penny. They're more so bonus items. And, seriously telemetries and glimmer boosts are not "pay to win". That would be buying actual gear, with light values

Why complain? If someone wants to spend money to have a cool emote, let them. It doesn't make them higher rank or anything. Instead of spending 20 minutes writing an argument you could've done a couple quests and gotten another mask.
