Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.

These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

First off, they only last as long as the Festival. Second. They are the exact same thing as the other types like telemetries and glimmer drops.
-
Just 1 hour, 50 minutes and 9GB until halo!
-
you can literally buy identical items from the gunsmith are you soft in the head?
-
When you say "Pay to win" it implies that the extra spinmetal will help players be good at destiny

Edited by Killerfoxe: 10/26/2015 10:30:23 PMHeya bud. I noticed you haven't commented on the people with an actual argument. I'm wondering if this is just some real solid b8 or you're an ignorant troll ebullient to feed a fire you want, so Bungievision can ignore you.
-
These are easily obtainable in game anyway in various forms.
-
Honestly, yea. Microtransactions have no place in a full priced title game. One that I've already spent $130 to get the actual full game. Microtransaction will start small like this, but eventually console games will become pay-to-win if a bunch of players line up to open their wallets.
-
Let me pay to receive items I have 100+ of and can buy from the gunsmith. VERY SMART IDEA
-
Jesus dude, just stop. Reskinned glimmer consumables are not "pay-to-win", or a big deal at all. Anyone who's been playing for a decent amount of time has dozens of every glimmer consumable, and hardly ever uses them. Hell, I used my Halloween themed ones while at full glimmer just to clear up inventory space.
-
Wow you are some kind of stupid.
-
It's not like those things have already been made redundant by notes of light instantly levelling my stuff or anything. Also ever heard of Black wax idol, Blue polyphage, etc or a weapon telemetry?
-
Bye!!
-
You can get glimmer farming stuff and telemetries (from the festival) by collecting candy. You need to chill
-
There is no point trying to rally the destiny community they will defend it no matter what even if they sold max lvl light gear they would defend it because it would "make the grind easier"
-
The consumables are literally the exact same as the consumables we already have. They're just reskinned glimmer and telemetry consumables. And they don't even stack on top of the normal ones! If you pop a candy for Fallen glimmer for example you can't pop an Ether Seed because it's on a cooldown. They are reskins of existing consumables, get your facts straight.
-
Lol... OP forgets that gunsmith sells consumables to lvl your weapons Or that enemies drops consumables for glimmer... So??
-
There has been consumables since the beginning to speed up your progress
-
Daft as a brush.
-
So they have a CHANCE to give you a reskinned glimmer consumable? Oh no, I better buy 10 of them immediately so I can be better at the game!!!
-
You're extremely dumb
-
You arent that bright my man.
-
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
-
It must be hard being this stupid. They are holiday versions of items that are already in the game and they will expire at the end of the festival.
-
You're kidding right. Oh look, a consumable that gives me glimmer when I kill hive. It's not like I have 400 of those hanging around...
-
I feel sorry for a lot of people in this community... the level of paranoia and Destiny doomsday rhetoric being shoveled around here is disturbing. This event is not in any way a pay-to-win scheme. It's a pay to have fun and play Destiny in a different way scheme. If you would rather play Destiny your way, by all means, please do. No one is forcing you to buy anything in order to win, have an edge over everyone else, or just to try and keep up. The items offered are cosmetic, reskins of items already available as a drop/dismantle drop/Gunsmith item, and nothing else. To be honest, I don't understand what here is to be feared, unless you really enjoy just being upset over nothing and trying to convince others of nefarious future wrongdoings that will ruin the game forever. Which, if Bungie did at all, would defeat the purpose of making money to begin with. Thus, micro-transactions on a pay-to-win scale would net less money in the long run. Hmm....
-
But they can only be used from now to the ninth.
