Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.

These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

When they start selling guns and armor for real money I'll grab my pitchfork and join the revolution. Until then you can quit your complaining and just play the game. Have some damn fun for Halloween.
-
This isn't giving you any sort of edge. Your not getting better armor or weapon class than anyone else. These candies are gonna sit and rot in my vault cause I have no use for em...
-
You mean the consumables that disappear after the festival and are exactly the same as the telemetries you can buy for a few hundred glimmer?
-
Saving me 250 glimmer for an item such as a weapon or glimmer consumable that I wouldnt have bought or used anyways isnt pay to win. You're a tard.
-
You should learn the meaning of the term "Pay 2 Win"
-
Regardless of if you think this event is pay to win or not, the fact of the matter is that we are getting closer and closer to pay to win. First it was emotes, now you can skip a quest with silver. You have the right to spend your money on whatever you want but we have seen this many times before in other games. If you don't see where this is going you are being very close minded. His point was that we put a stop to this before it gets out of hand. I have seen multiple post where kids said they spend 40$ trying to get a specific mask. That's all bungie needs to justify micro transactions and include more in the future. They know most reasonable adult gamers won't waste their money on these things but they know the younger gamers that mostly use their parents money will. And look at where the game is being directed towards the most now.... Teen rating.... Activision has been doing this for awhile now. Just look at the last couple call of duties.

i dont remember these consumables or their already existing equivalents being on everyone's farm list. So no. they dont matter. Waste your money if you want, you will literally gain no advantage over me that i cant already obtain. "but its an xp consumable" So are ether seeds and their ilk, if you have problems getting these items and feel the need to BUY silver just to get something this insignificant, good for you. you bought a package. have fun with it. ill have the exact same fun earning the same stuff you got out of that package without doing anything different from what im already doing in game.
-
Ill just be over here doing thriller in my Skolas mask, thank you very much.
-
I do agree, they have slipped in consumables BUT it's still not pay to win I'm afraid. Nice try though. Every consumable for 'sale' is available in game, for example: speed up special weapon upgrade = telemetry More glimmer from hive = black wax idol and so on and so on. Crafty, but true. Their statement still stands, by not purchasing stuff with silver you will not miss out on anything. You still have a choice. That's fine by me. I'll get what I need with glimmer instead.
-
It is a slippery slope, and it is pay to win, but it's something minor. We should warn bungie; this is as far as they go.
-
All the consumables go after the event! and its only glimmer and weapon xp. both are really easy to obtain in-game.
-
Can already see where it's going to go with these micro transactions they will soon take things out the game what you need I.E strange coins and will have to pay for them so you can get exotics so basically in the end you will be paying for your exotic gear with real cash Bungie know how to make money that's for sure
-
"You're paying to win glimmer, let's raise a ruckus people, makes your voices heard!!!!!!!"
-
You mean the consumables I'm using just to get rid of since I don't need glimmer or help leveling anything?
-
Lol "Salty Engram"
-
Too bad people will keep thanking Bungie every time it progresses. By the time it legitimately turns into a p2w game, everyone who cares will be gone.
-
You can get the same boosters in-game without spending money you dumbass

Edited by Trehann: 10/26/2015 11:18:52 PMThese items don't do anything that you can't already get in the game they are just re skinned consumables
-
You do realise these consumables will disappear at the end of the Festival?
-
But.. But.. I got raisins!
-
Read this while listening to the "pacific rim" theme tune
-
But that's what you do at a festival, spend money! You should see when the state fair comes around, fat hillbillies tripping over each other to throw money at the deep fried butter stand. But in all seriousness, the items Bungie is selling in the festival are either useless, have an expiration date, or just an alternative version of items you can get fairly easily in the game. It's just a net to catch fools. No different than a restaurant selling a 'value meal.'

Edited by An Engram Full Of Bees: 10/26/2015 10:54:06 PMThis post is now about puppies. If you like puppies, post your favorite kind below. If you don't like puppies...
Well, at that point you should probably just die by spontaneous combustion.
Pay for convenience, even tho it's cheaper overall to get telemetry's anyway. Lol
-
I can't wait until Tess sells strange coins
-
I remember they explicitly stated that consumables were data mined items that were supposed to be from in game content and was removed. They also straight up said these things wouldn't be available for cash.
