Treasures of the Lost are not cosmetic only
Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.

These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

Why complain? If someone wants to spend money to have a cool emote, let them. It doesn't make them higher rank or anything. Instead of spending 20 minutes writing an argument you could've done a couple quests and gotten another mask.

You do know you get free ones just for showing up and you get more just for doing quests..... And it's only glimmer.... I mean, my god I will have enough glimmer to buy.... Synths?.... I don't get the big deal

He guys and buys a item that triples his health and tanks 2 hammers and kills the guy. I buy a cool dance. COSMETIC I buy a experience booster to quickly level up a gun : CONVENIENCE The funny shit is you act as if buying those boxes will help. You can go -blam!-ing farm a full bag of candy in 5 minutes. EDIT: EVEN -blam!-ING FUNNIER. THIS PAY TO WIN SHIT PEOPLE ARE CLAIMING. THESE ITEMS LAST TIL THE END OF THE EVENT.

I bought $20 worth of Silver today so I could by "The Thriller" Dance. I hope this angers you even more, It's not a big deal, My new awesome Dance will in no way shape or form help me beat Hard Mode Oryx, but you bet your bottom dollar when I do beat him, I will do that f'n dance as he floats away into the oblivion.

You can get them just by filling up your bag of candy...they all expire on Nov 9, no matter how you obtained them. I'm still skeptical of Silver, but this isn't anything that's really way out of lines

Yes... becuase weapon upgrade rate and glimmer drop really impact getting to lvl 300+ I can't say I've ever used the upgrade rate items, or needed glimmer really bad since ttk came out, but if this is 'game breaking' and 'pay-to-win' to you, you must get upset when an exotic engram doesn't drop a new item for you and come to the forums blaming bungie. Seriously... complaining about -blam!-ing items that dont need to be bought, and have little impact in the game is pointless. Its not like they're selling exotics, or xp.

They are the same as telemetries except in the form of candy. Also you can just get them in the regular game.

Are you really complaining about items that barely speed up weapon upgrade? Just use motes of light or grab bounties. They don't always drop anyways so it's not pay-to-play or pay-to-win. I just got touch of malice today and it was maxed in a couple of hours.

The problem I have with the doom-and-gloom crowd is that everyone is assuming that there is only one potential outcome here, and that's just not the case. For starters, I would consider something pay-to-win if it affected the competitive environment of the game. These things don't give any legitimate in-game advantage, no matter how you want to spin it. There is exactly ZERO effect on the competitive environment of Destiny. Secondly, and assuming people can think logically here, who are you to dictate how people can choose to spend their own money? If someone wants to buy a bunch of silver for emotes and these new packages, why shouldn't they be able to? For what it's worth, I'm vehemently against anything pay-to-win. That would completely change the competitive environment of the game and most likely ruin the experience for me. But this isn't it, you're jumping the gun here people. Bungie has clearly stated that pay-to-win is NOT their plan, stop trying to automatically make them the bad guys here.
