If you did normal mode for the week, apparently you get nothing

The thing is, you don't get moulding shards on hard (unless you didn't do notmal). So if the chest doesn't drop you a hard mode loot drop, i.e. a ghost, it will appear as if you've gotten nothing, when in reality, you just didn't get a hard mode drop, and normal was already done. The lack of materials for upgrading basically means, gear or nothing.

Bump. I was under the impression that hard mode has its own rewards (obviously) so why would it miss out certain chests....

It doesn't but it doesn't guarantee a drop every time either

Why doesn't it guarantee a drop? I only ever played VoG and Crota on hard mainly so wasn't aware of such a thing

Only oryx on hard guarantees a drop. No other boss in any raid has a 100% guarantee drop rate
