why is everyone going so mental about this? 1: if the game annoys you so much, if it's so bad, then QUIT! please, by all means quit. 2. Destiny might be the most fun, community based, well-rounded, content-rich (grind-wise speaking), and generally good looking and INCREDIBLY well-playing (it just FEELS good) shooter ever. 3. Welcome to the real-world. mistakes are made, promises are broken, deadlines are strict and not everything that's possible is do-able.
How in the world can people honestly say Bungie doesn't give a *blam* about the community when they're one of the few developers who are so active in updates, balancing (not always succesfully) the gameworld, listening to the community? I have in my life NEVER met a community that on the one hand is so great (playing Destiny online brings out the best in many players), but on the other hand is nothing less than a TOXIC SNAKE PIT of greedy people in the forums... It's never good enough, it's never a positive note or a thank you for the great gameworld you have designed and the small secrets that we're still finding out about every other week....
I feel bad for Deej, Cosmo, Luke Smith and all of Bungie that they have to read this while they (I honestly believe this) want the best for Destiny and for its players... It really seems like it's never good enough for some of the forum warriors..
It honestly gets me pissed off to read people b*tching about the price of an MMO. What the hell did you expect? WoW cost 15 per month!!
Of course there are problems with the story, and there are a lot of interesting notions and characters in the game that unfortunately haven't gotten the attention they deserve... But that doesn't take away from all the GOOD things that Bungie has done and does...
So go ahead and call me a fanboy, but THANK YOU BUNGIE, and sorry for all the negative bullsh*t that floods these forums everyday.

well rounded , did you even read the article, do you have a graps of words at all? yes you ARE a fanatic in the worst possible way. FYI gullibility is not something you should ever be proud of.

Gullibility or postivism? You can feel about that whichever way you want... The fact that I draw a different conclusion out of reading an article doesn't make me a retard or has ANYTHING to do with my grasp of words..

We got a broken product. It's like saying 'Well the contractors were having a bad day so lets forgive them for the house falling.' No. You would not accept that. We KNOW that it wasn't just mr bad bad activation. We KNOW that content was taken to be used as dlc. We KNOW bungie had bad management. A court of law proves that. Most people on these forums who are top rated all have very constructive things to say. They give reasons and facts behind their complaints. That's what customers do. You never worked in retail have you? You NEVER tell the customer to leave. You bs and tell them 'we'll try better' but when enough people say we've had enough. As a company you have to listen. So no, people won't leave. They invested $100 into this game, a lie. If you bough a book that had pages missing, you would return it. I don't feel bad for them. They made some bad calls. They made mistakes. Stuff happens, I get it. They rarely open up to it though. They are not honest, more people are opening their eyes now. The hardest form of flattery to take is criticism. While 'f this and f that' are not constructive, there are plenty, if not the majority of post like this. People who spent their hard earned money and felt jiped. So no, they won't quit. The good they gave us was OK at best. The only reason TTK was good, was because we had crap before. A polished turd, is still a turd.
-
I've worked in retail for over 5 years and now work as a financial advisor so YES I do know, but we don't BS and tell them we'll try better, but we actually try better. That's what I really believe Bungie is doing... You're going on about a broken product, then tell me WHAT GAME ISN'T? Assassin's creed, call of duty, mass effect, the witcher, elder scrolls, ALL those games have DLC made way before release of the original game.. that's just the state of the videogame industry... Of course people can be critical about Destiny, they should be, but the forums are toxic, people get a rush for calling Bungie and it's staff out, saying "nobody likes you" to Deej, calling Luke Smith a mindless puppet, my GOD, we're talking about real people here who are just doing their jobs.. I HATE all the negativity, criticism works best when pointing out not just the flaws but also the strengths of something.. The community FAILS MISERABLY to do the last...

Witcher 3 dlc when released hasnt been overpriced between different territories, hasn't even been over priced at $10/£8, was stated how long it would be months before hand, had 15 pieces added for absolutely nothing and had an option to order the physical stuff for people who bought the season pass. They didn't say the only way to get the extras is to REBUY what you already paid for unlike another company.
-
fair point.
-
Then why hold bungie to a lower standard than your company you work for? We aren't on the forums for other games. Assassins creed and CoD has had bs for longer but the other games I can't agree with you on. It's hard to say the strengths when so many are tired. ESO changed. This game hasn't. All we got with TTK was what we were promised originally. That is all. They are tired of the lies, they are tired of people saying 'oh it gets better' tired of the same grind, which yes every rpg tends to have. Though usually with a lot more options than destiny provides. For me destiny is like this. I don't know either of the usual people who get insulted, so I judge the company as a whole. Though the few post I did see that were on top, the worst they said was they disliked them. They didn't do their job though, they lied to us. Pro Combat is fun and easy to play. The voice acting is actually good. Ghost(either) debatable though. Armor designs tend to vary Worlds look nice. Lore-Amazing. I love the lore, that meaning the cards. I hate I can't read them in game though. Mostly written by the one who left. Cons Weapons are all just recolors with different abilities. Few give off the look of an exotic. PvP ruins PvE. Exotic limits and weapons/player nerfs that hinder fun come from a non competitive PvP. Grind. Every Rpg has it, good ones make it interesting. Destiny does not. Few strikes end game to keep going back to. Rng. Enough has been said on this but I"m going to add. Rng is how those phone games hook people. They keep saying hey come back for more you can get better. It's not a lie, but it's a stretch of the truth. Worlds-So much is closed off. I have never went into a game with so many rooms blocked by shadows. I wouldn't care if the room was empty. The keeping me from it annoys me. Story-I could tell you but I don't have time to explain why I can't explain. You can't tell me with a straight face that is good story telling. TTK had what we are now shown was going to be the norm. All the cut scenes and dialogue which would of filled the void of Story. It may be rare to you, but I see many people who are understandably pissed off. I don't know what type of company you for but for example. Grocery store-I buy $60 worth of groceries, and only notice after that half the loaf of bread isn't their. That my bag of chips only has five chips. The store says 'sorry but if you spend $40 more you can get all of those, plus a cherry on top.' Of course that seems good, but all I got was what I originally thought I had. Agreed on AC and CoD. Especially AC. CoD at least has a reason to keep doing pvp. Leveling up your char and getting new guns. Destiny sort of kind of not really is like that. Skyrim-100s of hours of unique environments and a fulfilling game on it's own. Mass Effect- I only played two and no dlc, 100s of hours of enjoyment of that to. All the unique and interesting choices I made and how it actually impacted situations. Wticher- I didn't care for it, but the game is like the others. That's the big thing. Destiny year one on it's own, was bad. It was over hyped, over promised, and underwhelming to say the least. Your human, feel free to disagree with me. Only thing I can do is voice my opinion, just as you yourself do.
-
I totally agree with you on most points, except one thing: Destiny Year One on it's own was bad. I've had loads of fun in the VoG, Crota's End, yyesssssss, even PoE. Destiny Year 2 blew me away... I'm enjoying every second. I'm not sitting there thinking "well gosh darn, this is what it should have been", I'm just enjoying it... Maybe I'm too forgiving, but I'm having too much fun with this stuff to get bothered by would have/could have talk... I get what you're saying, but I've never expected that much from Destiny. I'm fine with DLC giving you new game-mechanics or the 'full experience', that you might expect a single-player game to have in the vanilla version. I'm aware that this is a slippery slope and sounds like fanboy behavior, but I honestly feel Destiny Year 1 was worth the money and Destiny Year 2 was worth the extra money. Were the examples I named, Skyrim and Mass Effect, better games than Destiny? Yes, story-wise, environment-wise, they were... But gameplay-wise? Immersiveness-wise? The want to get back in the game? No, in that respect Destiny is the best game I've ever played... And that was so in year 1, and has only grown more in year 2..
-
How the hell is Destiny immersive? The environment, story, and AI lacked so much life its pathetic. What it has is a 'casino' system for gamblers thus why they come back. As for gameplay, it has the smoothest gunplay i have ever seen but that does not single handily define it as the best gameplay. For one, destiny has many broken mechanics and bugs that break the gameplay. The AI is as intelligent as Halo 2 but with less life. If you consider this game the best YOU have ever played, then you have one shallow pallette for gaming. I, and the majority of people, can easily name a bunch of shooters that are much better than Destiny. Ill name one that absolutely BLOWS Destiny out of the water and I still will play it to this day: Half Life 2. Hell, i still play CS:GO and Team Fortress 2 and i will easily consider those games better than Destiny even when they are multiplayer only. Sorry to tell you, but Destiny has a very long ways to go before it can even be CONSIDERED as the best game ever, let alone the best shooter. And boy do i wish they would just come out with Half Life 3.....

Edited by Gerhans89: 10/22/2015 7:41:50 AMI've played pc shooters; from Wolfenstein 3d, quake, unreal tournament, battlefield 1942 up to half life, CS:GO, all of the call of duty's. I've played Console shooters; Goldeneye 64, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Halo, Far Cry, you name them.... Destiny is the only game that got me hooked for so long. Because of the loot-system? Yes! But I wouldn't give 2 sh*ts about that if the gunplay wasn't so great. And let's be fair, isn't gunplay the most important part of the gameplay in a shooter? I get what you're saying, there are a lot of flaws to Destiny, and I've not said that Destiny is perfect.. To me? It is the best game I've played because of its uniqueness, its gunplay, the lore (poorly executed but to me that just adds to the mystery), the social aspect and the fact that I still here "Led Zeppelin - The Immigrant Song", that was played in the official trailer, when I jump down the Temple of Crota... I've never had more fun playing a video-game than with Destiny and no amount of flaws currently present in the game will change that for me.

Gunplay goes a bit hand in hand with combat interactions between AI and the player. Controls do not have to be silky smooth to create great gameplay. They just need to be good enough. My opinion, the interactions with enemies are more important and lead to a more immersive and fun gameplay. Ive done entire threads on how to improve AI in this "grindy" game through ability and weapon tables, movesets, and interactions between the enemy. Take Halo for example. The grunts were awesome. They taunted, they threw bunch of grenades when you were behind cover, they ran in fear when their Elite died, they used varying weapons and ability kits, they would whip out grenades and go all kamikaze on you....their combat interactions were great. Destiny needs this badly for its gameplay. To me, Destiny as a whole--minus TTK--feels like an incomplete game.
-
I have to give you that, Halo's AI was much better... That sort of AI would indeed make Destiny better. I still don't agree with Destiny year 1 being "incomplete", even so, TTK made it all much better, but I have to give you this... Thanks for the other point of view.

man i hope you dont ever touch my finances, going on your judgement of value, and business practices you consider to be worth ignoring would make everything you said be massivly questionable
-
I would never dare to touch your finances. You seem like a man who'd b*tch about me making you 5k in a year when I prognosed it to have made it for you in 11,5 months.

I just feel year 2 destiny is what we were promised. I'm also quite a story driven player myself, not so much game play. So it's probably why my focus is on that. I actually didn't get year one until it came on sale for the one so quite a few things were fixed. Like cryptarc I didn't have hopes on it, because I knew of over hype. My friends got it and it wasn't until it became cheaper I joined them. They still play but I'm just worn out of it. I got to lvl 30 and never did the raids. I knew they were intense and fun though. It's that slope to get there I hated. Had Crota and HoW been free, I'd agree it was worth the money. Heck I'd then be ok with TTK price. TTK at most should of been $20, for those who bought the other dlcs. I think that would made a lot of people happier. Of course you want to go back into the game, just like people play those mobile games again and again. I will say when I started to read the lore, holy crap is it amazing. Listening to the people tell it and reading it myself. I would buy a book from bungie with all the card info in it. Organized by races etc. The worst part, when Destiny 2 comes out. It's going to take a lot to get the trust back. That's what I think bothers most people. It's that trust is gone. One thing I can't stand is people don't criticize Bungie, and everyone blames activision. Both have faults. I think if they just came out with 'Look, we messed up.' Just being open with us we could invest in them again. Plus I said before, agreed the gameplay is fun. So was titanfall, and look how that ended up.

Im playing a mobile app that has much richer content for its "grind" than Destiny.
-

-

-
Who said anything about the loot table being the selling point? I'm just mentioning that for an online shooter, it has a lot of content for its grind...
