Bungie has set a fantastic precedent with their utter lack of disciplinary action towards players who exploit known glitches. This sends the community a message, and that message is:
"Cheat your ass off. Nothing bad will happen to you, even if you're ruining other people's experience."
A majority of people that were cheating their asses off in Iron Banner last week? Still around. Exploit Infinite Shadowshot for an entire week, and not so much as a slap on the wrist.
Have bad internet connection, though, and it's ban-hammer time for you. Glitch into a part of the map for a forbidden Ghost shell in Year One, and your time as a guardian was up.
Throw a billion hammers, though? You're gold. Utterly ruin a PvP event with void arrows to the point the other PvP event is canceled, and you can still play.
So remember: If you cheat, ruin everybody's experience, and destroy events... just make sure you have a good internet connection.
