Since Star Wars takes place in the past; how is it that they speak the English language? Why is their no reference to Earth? How is it that the human race is so advanced way out in space but so primitive or non existent on Earth?

Technically there aren't 'humans' in Star Wars, just species that coincidentally look like humans. (Mandalorians, Naboo, Correlians, etc.

Usually in alien movies they use humans as stand ins for other species because, we're humans and not a different species
