Ok. Ummmmmm.... Morrowind? Fallout 3 or new vegas? adds new stuff... ADDS., as in it expands the game, doesn't recycle or re arrange anything inside and claim to be part of the expansion. yet isn't required to keep playing it.
i like how you ignored my question and put the onus on me to justify your stupidity.

Really? Because you just named single player RPGs. Every online game that has expansions pretty much require a player to have said expansions, doubly so for games with an "end game." None of the games you listed have an end game at all. There's a reason so many people compare Destiny to MMO's and its due to the end game, and the way the world and loot changes. Look at WoW, ToR, even non MMO's like Diablo. If there's an end game, you need the expansion. And in 98.88% of these games you must purchase the expansion. The ones where you don't have to are generally pay to win or riddled with microtransactions. Sorry I didn't feel the need to elaborate further, it seemed pretty obvious that I meant multiplayer games.

Well, you did tell me to name some. If you refuse to answer the damn question and put the task on the person who asked you to name some. Don't be surprised if i answer how i like. diablo 3 is a good choice by the way. You're right, blizzard totally banned me from playing the original release of Diablo 3 untill i bought reaper of souls edition. They were like "we made a patch that now turns your current game into a piece of the next expansion, so you're losing chapters 1-4" Just kidding, i could still play it without if i wanted. so no it wasn't required. So you're saying in WoW, they completely forbid access to old zones/content unless you buy the new shit? Welp, so glad i never got into the game now. how much would it cost to buy alll the expansions now? several hundred? stuff that. by the way, this isn't WoW, so stop expecting to do be like it.
