So there was a post I ran across that talked about the Book of Sorrows, and most seemed to think that the Worms and the Ahamkara are separate. My theory is that they are absolutely connected. Now, I'm writing this with my phone so it's a bit difficult, or rather annoying, to use too much from the Book to show this. For now, I will rely on two instances to show that the Worms and the Ahamkara are(somehow) one and the same. First is directly from one of the worms:
I am Yul, the Honest Worm.
Behold my passage. Behold my vast displacement, my ponderous strength, my great and coiling length, my folded jaws and curled wings. Behold the hiving cities symbiotic with my flesh. I am fecund, Aurash. I am at the beginning and end of lives.
Second is from Xivu Arath, one of Oryxs sisters(brothers):
THE DRAGONS. Our gods should be ours alone. Their smug freedom is an insult to me. I’d shut them all in cells. Bring them to me!
The worms and the Ahamkara are clearly one and the same, how though is still a mystery. Here is where my theories come into play.
From what Yul said, we could infer that perhaps the worms are a stage of the Ahamkara, like a Phoenix. They grow from the worms into great dragons, yet as they age they shrink and become worms again, only for the process to repeat.
My second theory, and the one I believe is more likely to be true, is that perhaps the worms are an extension of the Ahamkaras true body. They speak through them, feed through them, and are them, yet are still separate, and thus are able to survive if their Dragon bodies are slain, for example - by Guardians. Which would in a way explain how their bones can still whisper and corrupt things.
Either way the worms are clearly Ahamkara, and the Ahamkara are clearly the worms. The implications of which are still boggling my mind.

I think the Worms are a rival to the Ahamkara but both tied to the darkness. Similar to how Oryx and his siblings warred because that was the way of the sword, so to do the Ahamkara and the Worms both are similar but a little different, and both want themselves to garner favor from The Deep/The Darkness
