Thats .05 of the reason. The real reason is freedom of religion. So next time don't go off ranting about Christians finding a new religion cause we don't tolerate those disgusting -blam!-

No...leaving England and going to Holland which eventually was being overrun with oppression was the reason to come to the New World America was founded when the colonists didn't want to pay taxes enforced by England
-
That is ONE of the reasons
-
No, that is the ENTIRE reason. Even through logic it should be obvious. How would England oppress their religion when the colonists are a minimum of 6 months away on the most dangerous voyage on the planet?
-
No its not the whole reason lol go back go 7th grade history

"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws" - Treaty of Tripoli http://www.earlyamerica.com/early-america-review/volume-2/secular-government/

Prove that America is a Christian nation
-
Tell me, what is the most dominant religion in the U.S.? Why do we say one nation under god?
-
Christianity Because during the Cold War the US anti-communist feelings burned high and wanted to be different than those Godless Communists. This prompted Eisenhower in 1954 to put it in. http://www.ushistory.org/documents/pledge.htm

Edited by Autolycus: 9/4/2015 7:51:11 AMNo, taxation without representation was the first and foremost reason the United States declared independence. Sure, religious persecution (mostly Christians by other denominations of Christians) caused a bunch of people to come fleeing to America, but that's not why we're a country. Interesting fact, most of the foremost founding fathers were deists, not christians. This nation was founded under the principle that all men are created equal, and so they should deserve equal treatment by their government.
Also, I believe Nix meant find a new job, not religion. Lol.
