In the wake of the Reef Wars, the Queen sent the Nine a gift, both to commemorate their victory and to appease them, for Prince Uldren's Crows had entered the Cauldrons of Rhea. This gift was Skolas. The Nine, either through foresight or simply being closer to the edge of the system, saw Oryx's coming. Possibly through foresight, they saw that Skolas would one day predict his coming if he was released. They sent Xur to break Skolas's cage and give him a Ketch Skolas rallied the House of Wolves, who betrayed the Queen. He saw himself as the Kell of Kells prophesied by the House of Rain, the Kell who would unite all Eliksni Houses under one banner. This may have been a result of the (theoretical) Ahamkara bones he wore on his back. He successfully won over much of the House of Winter, some of the Devils, and few (if any) of the Kings. The Exiles would not follow. In his quest for power, he sent Taniks to Luna to plunder the secrets of the Hive (he failed). He also sent Wolves into the Vault to harness the power of the mysterious Oracles (they failed also). In a desperate move, he ascended the Vex Citadel and attempted to pull the entire House of Wolves through time. We stopped him, and he was brought to the Prison of Elders by Petra Venj and the Crows. Before being thrown in Prison, he was confronted by the Queen, Prince Uldren, Variks, Petra, and the Techeuns. He raged and rattles at the bars above his head where the Queen was standing. He then fell silent, muttering words such as Light-snuffer and Dark-binder: Oryx. He was confined to the Prison, where Variks allowed Guardians to kill him. The Queen now knew Oryx was coming. She sent Crows to Eris and Osiris in preparation. But how did Skolas know of Oryx's coming? He seemed to get the information in a moment of realization. I have two theories for this: [b]Overexposure to Vex tech[/b]: In his attempt to draw the HoW through time, he became overexposed to Vex tech. This changed him, allowing to get glimpses of events to come and events that had already happened. He saw Oryx entering the system, Taking (Dark-binding) and slaughtering (Light-snuffing) [b]Descendant of House Rain[/b]: This sudden realization was almost a prophecy of a sort; Oryx would come, Taking and slaughtering. Skolas could have been a descendant of surviving members of the House of Rain that were absorbed by the House of Wolves.
