  • A-113 was a Golden Age research station built in orbit around Ceres. It contained multiple 'keyholes': doorways into alternate dimensions, like the one in the Abyss. Inside at least one there is reported to be an 'eye' that drove the crew of the ill-fated Sohphia mad. The station was subsequently wiped from the Tower records, if it existed there in the first place

Thoughts on the eye? And it wasn't reported to the tower, the arach never reported the discovery. Dead orbit bastards :)

Exactly. They kept its discovery to themselves because if tjey couldnt have it, then nobody should. (DO logic right there)

  • Yup. The little "role playing" I do in this game is with factions. I refused (for 10 months) to level any faction other than vanguard because I hadn't decided on how to side with :). Recently, I finally decided I'm FWC all the way, so have started leveling them. I went FWC because they have the best lore...and unfortunately the worst colors

  • I go with New Monarchy, but I do respect FWC. They do at least have an end goal of standing up the darkness and fighting. DO is a bunch of cowards.

  • It was built to study these 'keyholes,' the dimensions they led to, and who/what was inside them

I think it is telling that the dead ghost that contains this lore was found on the moon in the shrine of oryx. Which raises the question of why this ghost was at a113 or how it got to the moon. If the keyholes go somewhere, then it would make sense that they go to the shrine of oryx where the ghost is located. Inside the shrine you fight Sardok, eye of oryx. I think it's reasonable to believe Sardok is the eye that those who enter scream about. Another theory is the eye could be an oversoul like in Crotas end but the first idea seems cleaner due to the lore and in game ghost location aligning. So basically a113 at a minimum appears to have a warp gate to the shrine of oryx on the moon. Which aligns with the rangefinders detecting thousand of kilometers. A side note on a113 but it's (or was) in orbit around Ceres which is where house of wolves stopped while fighting the queen in the reef instead of joining up with other fallen houses at the battle of twilight gap. It's hard to think the wolves wouldn't have noticed a113 and explored it. If they did, it could explain while upon capture that skolas is aware of oryx and his coming. This seems again "cleaner" than the theory I've seen where the nine released skolas because they knew skolas would use vex tech and upon seeing alternate timelines, would see oryx coming. If the fallen found a-113, it would have led them to the Shrine of oryx. Full tin foil hat time. If the above is true about a113, it raises lots of questions, and to me, points back to the comment from Ikora upon understanding Crotas netherworld: "the nature and possible interrelationships between vex gates and hive netherworlds remains unexplored". So in a113 we have the possibility of a human built (per grimoire), golden age (pre collapse) station that can warp people like a vex gate into hive shrines. Lots of whys to ask there. Knowledge of the hive during the golden age? Human ability to build vex like technology. Why would humans build a station to warp to hive shrines? Which is why I ask about. Curious as to others thoughts.
