Dark Souls, only game in recent years
I've played but unable to complete

Dark souls is more set up around abusing game mechanics at this point to be honest. For Smough and ornstein the best bet is to summon solaire then split them up

The boss fight in Anor Lomar, the dragonslayers is it?

Anor Londo, Ornstein and Smough. It's easiest to kill Ornstein first. That boss fight is the best! I had to backtrack and prepare a little more to fight them though. If you want to get back into it, I suggest taking your time, and before going into Sen's Funhouse go into the catacombs to kill pinwheel and get the Rite of Kindling so you have 20 estus flasks for the Anor Londo boss fight.

Royal you're the noob here. But for the Smough and Ornstein fight (no ally) what I did was I would run in between the pillars in the room and wait for Ornstein to charge at from across the room to split them up, get a couple shots after you dodge/block his attack, repeat. This was one of the hardest boss fights I've ever done. Ever.
