Then you are not a Christian. All other religion is false and leads you straight to hell.

I never said they were true, just that they have merit.

That is exactly what other religions say about us. They believe Christians are the false religious group that will burn. Forgive me for asking since I'm kinda trapped on the fence between religion and agnosticism and been trying to find where I stand on the subject, but how do we know that our religion is right out of every other one?
-
Because ours is the only one that changes lives. I have experienced every mainstream religion. I have only been a Christian for 7 years or so. Out of all the religions I experimented first I was left feeling dead and dry. Following christ has given me new life, and gives me a fire inside like no other religion on this planet. I know because I have experienced everything these other religions had to offer.

I'm glad you're confident about where you stand on what you believe. I wish I could say the same thing about myself :(. For a time, I was pretty happy with my faith, but when I got older and started to think deeper and more critically, since 1 and a half years ago I realized some things about Christianity that I couldn't help but question since. I couldn't help but ask to myself" why is loving someone who happens to be the same gender such an evil thing? " For awhile, I never got an explanation other than "abomination" or "God says so" so I just kept thinking further about it. I honestly don't know what to do about this subject. Deep down, I want to support gay rights but my superiors say otherwise and I'm scared to think how this is going to be resolved, with my heart saying one thing and my superiors saying another. I did have one idea where I just remain neutral on the subject but I'm not sure what God would think of that. Another thing that I question is the point of Hell. I know how it came to be but to this day I wonder why would a merciful god continue to allow countless souls to suffer millennia after their short couple of years of sin. If torture is considered inhumane, why should it go on for eternity? Especially after the final battle when Evil will finally be defeated? Letting so many people suffer for eternity instead of simply wiping their souls from existence just sounds........... cruel. I truly despise being in between religion and agnosticism, but I've felt trapped like this for quite some time. Feel free to answer any questions if you could. Being human, I don't think I will find out everything until I come across God face to face when my time here is over. Thinking now, I still love and respect God since many of my loved ones have been saved and are with him now, and I'm grateful for that.

We are to love the homosexual. We are not to belittle or hurt them in anyway. It is however a sin, just as adultery, and lying is a sin. God however made a covenant for man and women to allow us to fulfill our desires of the flesh. This covenant does not cover the sins of same sex relations. What so many fail to realize is having straight sex is the same as homosexuality outside of marriage. However marriage is only between a man and a women under Gods law.

Edited by superassassin364: 8/27/2015 11:09:28 PMThanks for trying to help me understand, but I have a couple of new questions about this. If we are taught to love each other, why are gays not allowed this covenant? Is it because God wants us to reproduce? If so, what about straight couples who love each other, but they can't have or don't want children? What about people who aren't in a romantic relationship at all right now like me and have yet to be married?

I'm sure you can find a Christian who was converted to Islam who will say the exact same thing as you. Feelings don't prove anything.

No, not really.

Feelings don't prove anything.

You are right, the spiritual power of the holy spirit does!
-
Only if you can prove objectively that it is the spirit of God.
