Hey Guardians! Here's something to think on. This stuff may or may not be true I just wanted to cite from grimoire and put my thoughts out
These are the defenders of the city during The Six Fronts
The defenders of the City through the battle of Six Fronts and during the building of its walls.
Lord Saladin Forge runs a tournament called The Iron Banner, built to test guardians in an environment less forgiving than the regular crucible, in tribute to the Lords of Iron.
Known Lords of Iron include:
Efrideet (Hunter)
Felwinter (Warlock)
Gheleon (Hunter)
Jolder (Titan)
Perun (Hunter)
Radegast (Titan)
Silimar (Titan)
Skorri (Warlock)
Timur (Unknown)
(Classes are predicted based on associated class items)
Rewards from the Iron Banner include weapons and armor bearing the name of these legendary guardians.
Why are these Iron Lord's so important? Let's take a look at who they're remembered with:
Legends walk through this history. The Iron Lords. Saint-14's crusade against the Fallen. The mask of the Speaker. The great Ahamkara Hunt. Toland's madness. Terrible Faction Wars - and the horrifying, disastrous effort to retake the Moon.
These guardians were extremely respected to the extent that they could be renowned as much as these great people and events. This begs the question of "How?" How did they get to be more well known than Titans of firebreak or Gatewatch. We're the Iron Lords a section or regiment by themselves? The highest and most powerful guardians may have been put into this group to defend the most hotly contended piece of land between us and the fallen. Perhaps these guardians were champions in the crucible. The Cloak of the Ironsworn agrees:
"Those who find victory in the Crucible will win salvation for our City." - Iron Banner maxim
Creating a city of champions is the only way to make the city safe, as the city in and of itself it's a well armed militia. Like the Cabal being a fully militarized race, They City in the face of adversity would not fail to defend itself and such was the goal and purpose of the Iron Lords, to be an example for all to look up to, to be the hope when the City has none. Also, people like to say that Saladin is not an Iron Lord. While he was not of the original group he is an Iron Lord:
"Only the strong are welcome here."
- Lord Saladin Forge, hero of the Twilight Gap
The Lords of Iron, ancient warriors from the City's founding, have no time for mollycoddling. The City remembers Felwinter and Jolder, Skorri and Timur, Radegast and Gheleon and the others, for their invincible patrols during Six Fronts and the Wall-building. The Iron Banner asks Guardians to live up to that legend.
Lord Saladin, once Shaxx's mentor, runs the Iron Banner tournaments to strip Crucible weaklings of their illusions and prepare them for a battle with no concept of fair play. The Iron Banner tests a Guardian and the Guardian's gear in a definitive, relentless mock war.
By order of the City Consensus and the Speaker, Saladin and Shaxx cooperate in administration, and the Iron Banner is technically a component of the Crucible. In practice, Saladin keeps his own schedule, his own rewards, and his own territory in the Tower. Now and then someone tries to get Zavala, Shaxx, and Saladin to sit down for dinner and sort out their differences, but they remain as awkward and as stubborn as Saint-14's skull.
Just a snippet of lore i thought I'd post today, have a good one!
