Hoping this is top comment because you are extremely wrong. You really should watch/ listen to the interview that is EVERYWHERE before posting.
Deej expressly said that if you are level 34 when TTK drops you START at 34 and then use xp to get to 40 (this is the case no matter your current level)
Also, light is immediately relevant. it determines your guardians Strength and Defense. that is why we see it on the guns now. Armor with higher light = higher defense.

Trying so hard to be right. He said "the level that you've attained" and "you're good to go". 20 is a level and 34 is a light level. They are both levels but only one is going to expanded upon while the other is modified. Next time review your own source before posting...

in the video he uses the stated "attained level" (26) as where the player will start in TTK and then you will "elevate" quickly beyond that., essentially confirming that the light level you have is where you will start from. We have attained level 34 through our efforts. the discussion is from 5:17-5:50 in the video.

I've seen the video several times and you are assuming the level he is talking about is light level when it could be either one since he did not confirm which level was being talked about.
