It's so painfully obvious you've never played anything other than an fps before. Leaving old gear behind is something all MMOs and RPGs do when new content drops. Frankly, I'm surprised they let us ascend in HoW.

Yes in every other mmo weapons are just hit sticks. They carry effects, and stats, and you can transmog to make it look like you want. Here we have unique guns. No other handcannon can have outlaw AND firefly. No other gun looks like it (shader wise), and it handles uniquely. So why make a one of a kind gun and leave it behind??? It's stupid. The thing is destiny isn't just an mmo, it is also and fps. And it's also a rpg. And the op has a point. Why add gear ascension to then remove it (making all our time spent a waste). And why not inform us players directly? They are doing this to themselves. Simple as that.
-
They probably added ascension for day one players who earned guns like fatebringer late, for just one last chance to use it in its "prime". I didn't earn mine until June, but it would've been best if they had never added it. Ultimately, the point of moving beyond old gear is so players actually try new gear. If fatebringer continued on players would miss out on excellent gear that was ignored because of an unwillingness to try new things. Why is it so bad that we have to leave it behind? Would you have not done endgame content, and tried to earn all the rewards anyway?

The thing is players will use the newer guns regardless. There is no need to force it on us. The second is all of the newer guns are crap. The perks are crappy trade offs, the perks are gone, some of the guns don't have the look and feel that some players want. Like I said of the weapons acted the same and we could at least change its looks it would be a different story. But that's not the case. Right now if all the new guns are bad we won't even be able to go back to are tried and true guns due to no ascension. When they added etheric light they made players believe that the guns would be worth it. Also let me ask you this. If there is no gear ascension and the only reason to play now IS to grind for gear why would you play from now until September??? And if they are going to make the whole first year obsolete why would players that grinded the whole first year buy TTK after all of there hard work was for nothing??? It's a slap to the face to the players. Personally I wouldn't have had a problem if it was like that from the start. But it wasn't. They gave us gear ascension. And then gave us gear as a means to reach the highest level AND as the reason we play. Why play PoE?for gear. why play ToO? For gear. Why play raids? For gear. Why grind strikes? For gear. If the gear will be useless why play???

Why play at all if you're only playing for gear? I have every piece of VoG and CE gear, and I agree that the PoE weapons are in severe need of a rework. But I still run both raids and 34/35 PoE on one character a week, because I have fun playing those encounters. If the game has become a chore to a player, where it's only fun with a specific load out, I would urge them to take a break and play something else. I don't play Destiny exclusively anymore, I play the Witcher, Dragon Age: Inquisition, the MCC and I just picked up Scholar of the First Sin for XBO (I beat the vanilla DSII on my 360). The end of year one gear was inevitable and I feel it's better now than down the road where we've developed an even stronger attachment to it. Trust me, I'll miss my Praedyths revenge, my Fatebringer and especially my trusty Vision of Confluence, but I'll still enjoy Destiny at its heart without them.

Destiny has nothing else going for it besides the grind. I wish people would make up their mind. We bitch that the game has nothing to do and we're bored. The trolls respond with telling us to do more raids and use different weapons and get those other weapons we don't have yet or spam the Nightfalls and Prison of Elders, etc. Basically, telling us to grind. So we grind, get the stuff and now said trolls are rambling on in response saying its not about the grind. WHAT. THE. FLYING. -blam!-. Make up your god damn minds.

I'm telling you to stop playing if you don't enjoy it. Those of us who do will continue to play it, and will buy the Taken King. As I said above, if the game is a chore, quit. It's that simple and I'll add this. Go ahead and leave one or two well thought-out and respectful posts in #feedback, but by having numerous posts that say practically the same, uninformed things, I would hesitate to call the people encouraging you to reassess the game the "trolls".
-
1: Stop talking to people as if you are an authority. Its annoying and just makes you come off as arrogant and self-centered. 2: You don't need to tell anyone anything. People are going to be quitting regardless if these things do in fact happen. 3: You are clearly not with Bungie or Activision, and you are clearly not the one who should be making comments like this to people speaking their minds and giving their player feedback. 4: Have you ever saw anyone from Bungie tell someone to just leave their game? No. Because as a business that is called treating your customers poorly.

You should probably take your own advice, champ.

I'm expressing my opinion. Who is wrong? The one giving their personal opinion or the one telling them that their opinion is wrong? These are the Player Feedback forums. You are going to see a LOT of posts like this.
-
Get used to people disagreeing with you then. As you said, this is the Feedback forum, not only for feedback to Bungie, but feedback between community members. Your feedback to Bungie is that they are handling this game poorly, and my feedback to you is that I believe you are incorrect in your assumptions.
-
That's flawed logic. These aren't my forums. You're claiming to give feedback on my feedback which is not how this works. That's called brow beating and the same kind of peer pressure you would expect to see happening back in High School. You're ultimately wasting your time, because you can't argue the fact that myself and others feel this way. You are essentially debating whether or not others have a right to speak negatively about the game. We are customers. We will continue to speak our minds until something productive comes of it or until we lose any continued desire to deal with any of this, at which point the business loses customers forever. Its really that simple.
