People want variety. Closing off the old weapons to make room for the new isn't the answer. The answer is to make the new as good as the old so we WANT to change.

I don't have Fatebringer, but I understand your generalizations here. The reason people don't want to give it up is the exact reason that I already stated. There's just nothing that compares in most people's eyes. The stats + the aesthetics of the other weapons just don't add up to something people consider comparable. I have no problem with what's going on, but I'm also not going to downplay the validity of civilized argument. People on both sides are making a valid argument in varying cases, but it's the blind extremism with/against Bungie that drowns out these rational voices.
