Games are considered prime canon which is why reach really happened like it did in the game not the book

Actually. Most call reach non-canon. But really, both versions can be fit in. Anyone who is a big fan of halo- I'm a big fan of destiny too, mind you- knows the books are, unlike must games, prime canon. The books and the cutscenes.

It was stated by bungie when reach came out that the games were prime canon (unsure now that 343 is at the helm)
