So Bungie just told us..
That the day The Taken King releases.
All that gear your grinded for for hours on end and worked hard to get is becoming useless.
All that ascending for nothing.
Thanks Bungie. I'm cancelling my pre-order.

[b]We're getting remodelled weapons with different names and colours.
Devil You Know and Revelator have same base stats.
Red Hand IX and Lone.Rebel have same base stats.
Deadshot Luna SR1 and B-Line Trauma have same stats.
I'm so happy to dismantle my favourites for identical overall base stats DUPLICATES.
Everything will continue to be the same.
Yes "move on" to "better weapons".
All that changes are the name, colour and a slight adjustment to the models.. The attack value goes up.
Yet THE BASE STATS WILL DUPLICATE.[/b]
Edit: Yes this is my first MMO.
Yes I love the weapons I am currently using.
Yes I love playing Destiny, gameplay is incredible.
Yes I will complain when things piss me off.

I really couldn't care less about the genre.
Edit 3: If you're happy spending money for your weapons, that you worked hard for, to become obsolete then good for you.
I chase the weapons. You may chase armor, grimoire, experience or enjoy doing the same thing week in week out.
Insults don't affect me, in fact it shows how low your intellect is.
"They said wait" they shouldn't have to.
They shouldn't let people jump to conclusions.
They shouldn't let misinformation be released.
Edit 4: unlike the majority. I rarely use my fatebringer.
Final Edit: After reading many constructive replies and having checked in on Destiny today. I've decided I'm going to have to line up all my weapons and start cutting them out. Keeping all exotics and useful crucible weapons and those I consider to be useful.

So when September hits it will have been over 3 months of gaming with house of wolves. So you didn't use your ascended weapons for those >3 months? This game has to progress eventually. What's wrong with you?

You'll still have the weapons they'll just be a lower level than your new ones.

Why work for HoW weapons when TTK weapons will outclass them? It's a flawed mentality and doesn't make sense. Personally, I'm glad there will be a change of weapons. It'll be exciting trying out the new gear and weapons and finding your favorite one. Also Exotics will be upgradable so no loss there. Also, old legendaries will still be useful in PvP (except IB and ToO).

2 RepliesPeople keep forgetting that this will render all end game items useless too. There will be no reason to do vault of glass, Crotas end, prison of elders, and trials of Osiris. It's a [i]seriously [/i] stupid move but Bungie doesn't understand the concept of "optional".

A video game isn't meant to be a chore, just chill with the "i quit" crap. Do you expect to play the same gear/weapons for the next 10 years? Give it a chance, use the new things, adapt to changes and THEN have an opinion. Don't assume anything until release of the game, everything you hear or see now is very limited!

I don't really understand what the big deal is with this. The way I see it is that needing to get new weapons and armor is just going to extend the playtime out so much more. Didn't people want lots more to do? Yeah it sucks that we can't keep our favorite weapons but did people really expect them to last forever given that there is supposed to be a 10 year plan?

1 ReplyI will honestly say that Destiny was my first MMO game & regardless of whether it's the right thing do to for the purpose of progression or what not...I still think the're gonna lose thousands (if not millions) players! I personally know of 9 players who quit Destiny after TDB released the minute they found out that old gear became obsolete & they all said that the grind was for nothing. When HoW came along I contacted them to give the good news about old gear ascending...none of them were interested & moved on to Elder Scrolls Online / The Witcher 3 / COD / Battlefield / GTA V And with many other promising titles releasing soon (Star Wars Battlefront / Fallout 4 / Doom / The Division...hell, even Tomb Raider & Uncharted) many players are gonna invest much less time in Destiny.

I agree with edit 2. This is an MMO and at the same time it's isn't. Which MMO released an expansion after only 1 year of the vanilla game being released? None. After several years old gear becoming obsolete would make sense but not after only 1 year.

You want to hold onto the old stuff for sentimentality or maybe transmog will be a thing, go ahead. Il be wiping out a vast amount of my vault hopefully to make room for the new stuff that hopefully, and should, be rendered obsolete next year.

5 RepliesOh my god another one of these? Get tf over it. This is how a progression game works people. No you can't use fatebringer for 10 years if this game lasts for 10 years. Why? Because in what would would that even make any sense? Everyone would have the exact same load out for the end of time. TL;DR Move on, get new weapons, stop being a female about it.
