I've noticed that many people aren't particularly excited for the new DLC. Well, I'm hyped. Here's why:
The Enemies
So, one complaint is the enemies are just "reskinned." Ironically, they're the exact opposite. They share the exact same skin, which is a plot point, but have totally new mechanics. A reskin would be Acolytes and Vandals. Same mechanics, different looks. And those bosses! A giant ogre to put Gulrot and Phogoth to shame! And Oryx. A bat, pterodactyl, wizard thing. We haven't seen that before.
The Nerf/Buff
Let's get this one out of the way early. We haven't played the patch yet. We don't know if we'll like it. Right now, we're kids crying about green beans that have never tried green beans. I'm sure it won't be that bad.
The Story
Bungie said we'd go on quests to get our new sub-classes. We all know how great quests are, and they're back! The Phobos mission(s?) look really cool. And, if Wolves is anything to go by, the story will be good.
The Destinations
We know we'll go to the Taken Dreadnought. From what I've seen, it looks big, fun, and interesting. Along the way, we're going to Phobos, which may function more like the Reef, in that we only visit it for a mission. Also, we might go to some new places on Earth
Crucible
New game modes: Mayhem and Rift (capture the flag). New maps that look interesting, like one in an old Tower.
Weapons
Lots of new weapons are coming, ones with new models. Some new and unique perks are coming, such as increased damage when health is low and when enemies have surrounded you.
The Price
Oh, forty dollars. Well, I'm sure most of us have forty dollars we can spare, I know I can. And, in my opinion, if I spend a dollar for every hour I use something it's money well spent.
So, anything cool I missed? Are you hyped?
