If I accidentally pick up a green engram. I have to stop what I'm doing immediately and discard it.

The only way to discard them is to dismantle.

I do that too. It messes up my stock of legendaries and rares for some reason, and I'll cringe if my friend is playing on my console and doesn't dismantle a green item when it drops

Why would you discard and engram? You still can get a little bit of glimmer from it. Never understood why people do this.

he meant dismantle it, you can't keep green engrams on high levels, they automatically encode, so you just dismantle the items for parts and glimmer
